100% me too. I’m sure eventually they’ll come to terms with it, but doesn’t sound like anytime here soon. That course was ridiculously hard and I was trying to free wheel as much as possible to save my legs and to my surprise it basically non existent with a JBV. I’m not sure if that’s due to hardware or can be improved with an update.
I’m sorry that it seems like quite a few people are having problems with the victory. I think saying that they will never fix problems is a bit harsh. Both DC Rainmaker and GP Lama gave good reviews of their units (which I will admit may have had more careful QA done on them than to the average unit), but I think those reviews do show they have the ability to make a good trainer, they need to sort it out at higher production volumes though. There are also probably lots of happy customers, they just aren’t as loud online.
I bought mine because my Neo (well 2 of them because it was replaced under warranty) have been overall garbage. At least if the victory does fall apart (which so far I’m loving) it will only have been 1/2 the price of the Neo.
Hello Fabian, I find the gear change up to be a bit harsh, meaning the change in resistance feels too hard.
I am using SRAM all rounder gear option but I find going up from gear 2-6 to 2-7 feels hard.
Did you go with the all rounder option and you feel that was smoother for you?
I firmly believe JBV will be a great trainer once all the bugs get worked out.
Murray from JB support updated me just now via email saying new firmware coming this week which should fix cadence issue and “help” with Wi-Fi connection issues.
As you said, the trainer will be a great trainer once and when JB support get on top of the issues.
I think so too. They’re swapping mine out.
The biggest issue that I see for US customers is the complete lack of support. I still have not even received a single reply to my multiple requests after 2 weeks. And that’s despite using their online support form and various e-Mail addresses.
At this point I’m done with Jetblack and have requested a return of the JBV. Of course they didn’t respond to that one either. So I had to resort to sending them a physical letter. Having to do that is ridiculous. I’m also about to start the credit card charge back process as the last resort.
I had high hopes for the JBV. But it doesn’t seem like Jetblack is able to deliver.
I imagine that they are swamped with support calls right now, and focusing efforts on finding resolutions for the known problems. There do seem to be some specific hardware issues, which may require replacement, but there are also many reports of similar behaviors that are likely to be firmware related.
I guess that they are concentrating their finite resources on those with the hope of solving many users’ problems with the next firmware release. It seems like the WiFi, the cadence, and the calibration fall into that category. And they probably want to do firmware QA to make sure that they are making forward progress, so that takes time. I can imagine that this is all hands on deck trying to recover the situation before it gets further out of control. Mass returns will be a more logistical and financial headache for them. I realize that I am early in the product ramp and prepared to cut them some slack. Of course, others may feel differently and ready to cut their losses.
For now I am Bluetooth only and set trainer difficulty to zero to minimize shifting (to avoid resistance issues). Power calibration seems better but hard to be sure, I really need to benchmark versus something else. As it would happen my 4iiii power meter crank turned into a random number generator so that’s under warranty repair now as well …
Best of luck,
Mark.
I’m willing to cut them slack, but if I’ve heard nothing on a replacement unit by the end of the week then I’ll be sending mine back as faulty.
If you have Instagram. I’ve gotten quick responses from them on there.
Support shared a new preview firmware (04_12_09) today. I’ve installed it, but haven’t tested the stability of wifi connection yet. Has anyone tested it? Is it stable enough to use WiFi for the ZRL race today?
Same as A Pukeko above, (In the USA) I’m getting zero response from JB. Getting a bit frustrated with the complete lack for communication. I have a unit with a very bad vibrating/wobble that is felt throughout the whole bike. I have tried both the in app support and direct email. Does anyone have a different email or communication path that I could try. Much appreciated.
I haven’t had any problems with wifi on any races yet.
Have you had connection issues before? Are you on the new firmware?
My Jetblack app keeps crashing when I try to download the beta firmware on Android. Rad.
I think the Victory will end up selling a lot of Wahoo Kickr6’s once people get a taste of the features, but want a real flywheel…
compared to my Neo2, the ride feel is much, much inferior
This thing has become almost unusable. Won’t show up as a controllable trainer via wifi, (but power shows up,) stops responding on both Ant+ and Bluetooth. I haven’t had a trouble free workout in days. What a PITA
At this point I think they do this on purpose. I’m pretty sure that they don’t have enough devices in country to swap all the bad ones. In addition they haven’t found the root cause for the vibrations yet and therefore haven’t fixed it either. This means that all new devices still flowing in run the risk of having the vibrations.
And if Jetblack had to pay out the money from the returned defective trainers they would probably be in financial trouble.
It doesn’t look like they are getting on top of the situation at all.
I find it strange that the response time in the UK has been pretty good (by comparison).
No connection problems before. I’m on 4.9.
