Jarvis Island Expansion [November 2024]

Are the blue cyclist signs on the side of the road temporary? They look really out of place

Should be to stay. They are a little memory of the OG blue Zwift bots

I hope you’re wrong and they’re just here as long as the tenth anniversary stuff. They’re distracting and out of place. Could have one or two scattered around instead of dozens it they feel a need to have it.

Welcome back Jarvis! Now to link it with the Col de Sarenne and connect the Alpe on the back side.

Looking at the landmass around Jarvis Island, an idea came upon my mind.

With Jarvis Island restored to its former glory, we could actually make it a radical island as a good brother of mine (<3 Grape_Vine) from Zwift quoted.

Zwift can consider carving a much desired velodrome centrally within the bowels of Jarvis Island like an underground fight club, that would have been awesome. Spiral roads can be added to lead into and out around it like an arena (Jarvis Arena/Track Centre?!?!)

Zwifters have been echoing for the creation of the velodrome and we know that Zwift has drafted it somewhere out there previously. However, if we can put these two distinct concepts into a single island based center would be very efficient use of map space.

Idea eh?

Feel free to let me know what you think Zwifters. Thank you.

Hey zwift,
Alltough I love every update to the zwift world we get, I, as many others, had hoped for something more than just 5 km of new roads to be honest… It’s may be pretty and a bit of a “gimmick” throwback to the very start of zwift, but at the end of the day it’s kind of useless being just a 5 km loop. Can you at least make it part of some greater watopia expansion by connecting the other side to the jungle or the foot of de Alpe, this would make it already so much better!! I do really hope this is already on the plans for the near future!

Jarvis is good. It will be great to add lap counter at start/finish arch. Similar to volcano or crit city

We definitely need the other ways up to ADZ just as the real Alpe d’Huez has different ways to it, such as the balcony road across from Col du Sarenne (which needs to be built).

And also Col du Galibier. While at it, maybe Lautaret.

Then you could potentially have something like this:

That’s a really enjoyable ride IRL that I’ve done.

I rather have those added to the France map.
Such potential for that world thats being neglected.

But Alpe du Zwift is in Watopia, and that’s the thing, because it’s the key part in all of this. Unless you plan to have a real life Alpe d’Huez also in Zwift in addition to ADZ?

All of these ideas focus on linking the other climbs and roads into ADZ, just as the real one has.

You could then also have racing stages that are much, much tougher.

Ahh than no. Dont mind an extra connection to the jungle, but those extra mountains should be on the France map and not Watopia.

Besides that the Galibier (Lautaret) is already in the Climb portal so would have not much hope them adding that again.

Best would be to remove the Alpe from Watopia and put it in France and expand from there, since as you all said there are so many great routes to be made in France, but I never expect to see them move it.

The problem with France is that world is not always available and that’s why I don’t use it that much.

ADZ might get repetitive over time but at least you don’t have to mess about with setting up private events, workouts or world hacks to access it.

Plus with Watopia you also have the other climbs like Epic KOM. It’s more complete world.

Some of the other worlds, particularly Innsbruck have been left to languish.

Portal “Galibier” is not a replacement for a real one with proper stunning scenery.

The France world will never be expanded again. Watopia and Makuri are the only place to expect growth at this point.

That is just wrong. Not your remark though, but that Zwift has decided that.

oh yeah I know these roads very well  it seems so obvious to connect it

This is an absolutely brilliant idea bringing Jarvis back, and the nod to the blue riders is inspired, made me smile as I saw them.

Kudos and Ride On.

  1. Second connection south (jungle, etc.).
  2. Lap counter.

Exactly. What we REALLY need are more bright green things near the side of the road that help disguise segment start points.

Banjo Guy looks suspiciously familiar. Am I overfitting the data here?
