Hi everyone,
Over the last 12 months I’ve spent a lot of time working with a number of passionate women’s racers + organisers building the FemmeCycle Collab (FCC) community on Discord. This has subsequently led to the women’s only section in Zwift Insider (with big thanks to Eric and Beccah for all their hard work). You see can the Zwift Insider Women’s page here: Women’s Racing on Zwift | Zwift Insider
The attendances on both Women’s only events, and mixed events which have a women-only E category are as a rule, poor in attendance (sub 5 starter average). It is my belief that these are damaging to women’s only racing - turning up to your first race with no one else in your category, or a single person that drops you by some distance will not encourage you to come back.
As a result, on September 2, I will be removing Women’s only racing events (this includes the Women’s Only E category in Mixed races). In collaboration with FCC, a number of organisers and racers will be working together to create new events at considered times of the day. Initially this will be 5 a day during weekdays (with the exception of Wednesday) and 4 a day at the weekend. They will offer varied content.
This does not affect existing and future women’s racing series’.
These events will all be housed under the FCC Companion Club. They can also be found here: The at Home Cycling & Running Virtual Training App
Having events created by a number of different teams increases fairness (and a lack of favoritism) as well as there being a single place where all upcoming events are easily seen. It also improves the ability to market the events.
I’ll be reviewing the numbers after a month to determine if the volume is correct.
If anyone has any questions, please reach out to me directly.
NB: Below are intended for women’s only members (with the exception of male organisers that manage women’s teams or events)

James
