I’m using:
I only got the Cog and Click yesterday. Before that, I was connecting everything directly to the Apple TV and it worked perfectly with zero issues.
Now that I have the Cog and Click, I need to connect everything via the companion app. The Kickr Core and the Cog and Click connect to the app without any problems. However, the heart rate monitor keeps disconnecting for a few seconds every few minutes.
The strange part is that this HR monitor never disconnected when I connected directly to the Apple TV, and it also never disconnects when paired with my Garmin. I even returned the original HR monitor and bought a brand new one, but the issue is exactly the same.
This makes me think it’s a bug in the companion app. It’s always just the heart rate monitor that disconnects — the Kickr Core and the Cog and Click have been rock solid the whole time.
I’m using an iPhone 13 Mini on iOS 26.2.1.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi @Tom_Ak_GXY, welcome to the Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.
I had a look at the logs from the day you posted to gather some clues, and I noticed your HR monitor was showing RSSI values around ‑70/‑71. That usually means the signal isn’t being picked up very close, which can make it more prone to dropouts.
Since the Kickr Core and Zwift Click are staying rock solid, it looks like the hiccup is specific to how the Companion App is handling the HR connection. A few things worth trying: keep your phone closer to the strap during rides, minimize other Bluetooth devices nearby (like headphones or remotes), and close background apps that might compete for Bluetooth.
Interestingly, I also saw your Apple Watch listed in the pairing events on Feb 6th, somehow. Because the Apple Watch isn’t officially supported, it could be adding extra Bluetooth traffic that interferes with the HR monitor connection. If possible, try disabling or unpairing the watch during rides to see if that helps.
The fact that the HR monitor stays stable when paired directly to Apple TV or Garmin suggests the hardware itself is fine; it’s more about how the Companion App manages BLE connections. Hopefully, these tweaks help smooth things out.
Thanks for bringing this.
Ride On.
Hey thanks for the reply
since posting this, I’ve actually switched to using my Apple Watch as a heart rate monitor via the Zwift Companion app (with the Companion app installed on the watch), and that’s been working flawlessly so far.
So maybe the other heart rate monitor had a week signal or something
I’m glad it’s working for you and long may that continue. They dropped support for the Apple Watch integration because it wasn’t reliable enough, so I don’t know how that will go for you long term but hope for the best.
