How important is that perfectly straight chainline?

I just bought the kickr core with the zwift cog (v1) I think. It’s the cog with the non-adjustable position. I am using it with a Giant Trance, and I don’t mind the noise one bit, but the trance uses a 0mm offset chainring so I can see that the chainline isn’t straight on and can’t be. I am in gear 5 of my axs derailleur for the best alignment possible, but I am wondering if I need to upgrade to the V2 cog to move that alignment outboard more for a straighter chain. Part of me is bothered by “wear,” but logically, that seems ridiculous given that in the real world I spend tons of time in 1st and 2nd gear on the cassette and the chain is wayyyyy more out of line during that time.
What do you think? Worth the money to be able to move the cog? Would I even be able to move it far enough outboard to matter?

Wear won’t be a problem for such a small difference. The real issue is noise - is it quiet enough for you?

Noise is no issue for me. Essentially, using my other giant mtb, I’m basically two gears away from ideal. Right now my derailleur is at 5th gear to be best on the cog, and an ideal chain line would be 7th gear.

Maybe next year I’ll switch it, especially if I have a new chain.

Hi @Klinton_Silvey,

Welcome to the forums! I’m Monica from Zwift. I understand how important it is for you to resolve the issue with the chainring on your Wahoo Kickr Core and whether the Zwift Cog V2 will address this problem. To help troubleshoot this in detail, please reach out to us at support@zwift.com.

Thank you!

I have SRAM GX AXS. It works fine, but i told wahoo that it came with the v1 and the website shows the v2 and they are sending me a v2 anyway. Should be nice and straight after that.
