How can I keep my streak alive on a cruise ship?

I’m going on a 10 day cruise. I will be riding on board. Will I be able to record it on zwift?

You can connect a Garmin or Wahoo device to your account, and any ride you do with that device will upload to Zwift and count towards your streak. Not sure what kind of riding you’ll be doing onboard, and whether you can get it onto a Garmin/Wahoo. If it’s just a spin bike you might have trouble.

But if you have a 12+ week streak at the moment, you’ll have a streak saver that will protect you from a one week gap. 24+ week streak means you have two streak savers.

Can you take power meter pedals (if you have them) and use them with a spin bike on the ship? It wouldn’t be very interesting compared to using s proper smart trainer.

Or the suggestion of Tom?

Take your head unit, and start a “ride”. With the ship moving, you’ll accumulate the distance you need for the streak to continue.

Are we sure this will work? I think I’ve read some other comments on the Forum indicating that outside rides are not counting toward a streak. I think they are supposed to be, but the comments indicate that they may not be.

I haven’t used it to trigger a streak, but Zwift has indeed said they are supposed to count.

I was out hiking today and just for spek en bonen I used my Garmin watch to log 2km of my hike as a bike ride. It has indeed popped up on my feed on the Comp App. And was so slow that it didn’t skew my numbers high so I don’t count it as ‘cheating’ But whether it actually counts as a streak is another matter. It’s supposed to.

This is from the Ride Streak FAQ (Ride Streaks FAQ)

"Q: Do outdoor rides count towards my ride streak?

A: Yes! After connecting your Garmin® or Wahoo account to Zwift, activities over 2 kilometers, or 1.25 miles, completed with a Garmin or Wahoo device are reflected in Zwift and count towards your ride streak—you’ll even earn XP!"

(But they have to be rides–runs or other activities don’t count towards streaks, they say.)

From what I was reading, the outdoor ride will count towards the streak, but you may not get the streak XP bonus.
2 weeks ago, my first ride of the week was outdoors. The next ride was on Zwift - I didn’t see the streak screen after the ride on Zwift.
I don’t track XP that closely, mainly because Zwift makes it absurdly hard to see what your actual number is by having to start a ride, so I don’t know if I got a streak bonus that week or not.

Ah, so I may have misunderstood what I read. So it’s:

First ride of the week indoors: continue steak = yes, streak bonus = yes

First ride of the week outdoors: continue streak = yes, streak bonus = no

Years ago I did a short run on a ferry crossing a fjord in Norway, just running some laps around the empty upper deck. I was hoping for a cool Garmin/Strava map of some corkscrew loops across the water.
Nope. Boat was going too fast, it turned my run into a wavy line, no overlaps. But I did set a pace PR and jacked my estimated VO2Max way up and my predicted race times way down.

EDIT: Ha, here it was

I’ll take my run pod with me the next time I go whitewater kayaking. A world full of opportunities

There are streak savers available now. If you have ridden 12 weeks in a row you get one streak saver. You may own a max of two streak savers. The current number you own is shown on ZCA homescreen next to the number of weeks you got (dot symbols to the right). I am not entirely sure how the savers work, but I assume that a streak saver is automatically being used if you hadn’t ridden a week.

If you already own a streak saver you don’t need to worry to loose your ongoing streak because of a 10 day cruise.

The streak feature is such an annoying dark pattern (mainly there to keep engagement metrics up and the recurring revenue flowing) that I wish it would be mandatory to be able to hide them altogether in any application. In Zwift, the rodents flapping out of people’s jersey pockets are extra annoying.

Outside rides are definitely counting towards the Week Streak. I’ve not been on Zwift since this feature was introduced and I’m on week 3 (soon to be 4).

But are you getting the bonus XP for continuing your streak?

I think they look like gremlins.

I’ve really no idea. I haven’t checked XP in quite a while.

Your 10 days might overlap both weeks?
Ask a friend to log in for you.
Use HR2VP, connect to wifi on the ship, bring a heart rate monitor, use HR2VP on your phone, while playing Zwift on the tablet.

1: book for the next port a cycle tour in that
week . Use a garmin watch to record. Link garmin to zwift, sync and you get outdoor xp and as it seems, counts towards the streak

2: bring a wahoo speed sensor. Check the bikes in the ship’s gym. Sometimes you can mount the sensor on a wheel or cranc. Using a piece of duct tape. Use zwift app on your phone, (not the companion) calibrate the sensor to some ‘wheel size’. It kinda works but watch your ‘speed’, it might be too high.

3: run around the ship ‘s running track Have you phone with you, and start the zwift app on it, running mode. You need a foot sensor, or smart hrm (like garmin), and then you run outdoor And in zwift. You get ride-on’s in zwift And from the granny on deck
But i don’t know if running count for streaks
A variant is running on the treadmill in the gym.

I do all 3 of above when taking a cruise.

Running outdoor and in zwift looks like this

It doesn’t
