Wow, this record sounds so crazy. If he only knew that dozens of people are ready to smash his record in the virtual world on Zwift climb portal. Not only that, but a few people plan to ride it twice as doing it once is not enough of a challenge.
I would follow Phil’s plan of using a fast climbing bike, then switching to a gravel bike for the unpaved gravel section.
I will only ride this if there is a badge reward. Or maybe a cookie jersey, I hear? (Maybe someone can explain the cookie jersey thing. I’m just repeating what I heard)
Years ago Phil did some rides on Zwift and you got a cookie jersey for joining the ride. He used to have a bake at home cookie brand, not sure if he still does?
90km with 4km height meters of boring climb portal, no thanks. The only reason for me to visit the climb portal is for the bonus XP. A fun Watopia or Makuri version, I might actually try that….
And some folks will smash his record without even getting out of zone 2. He ought to start a pro-cycling team and give these people a contract.
I dislike the portal climbs - I find them very boring with the bland graphics and I doubt the accuracy of a few of them when they have extremely steep sections that the real climbs (which I’ve ridden) do not have.
