Group Spinning Workouts in Zwift

Does Zwift offer spinning classes/courses in its training world?

Where a sequence of songs with different BPMs is followed by varying cadence and resistance levels?

Perhaps also with advanced exercises, such as riding an entire song, one section standing up, the next in a standing position, followed by a high cadence in the chorus with light resistance, etc.

Could one arrange individual group spinning workouts/rides? Or log into existing bot spinning classes? Or create spinning workouts for different goals like strength, FTP, cardio, etc., independently – either with the familiar blocks or with songs (that have a specific training function – fast songs for cadence, slow songs for standing and strength, etc.)?

Or could one create their own training playlists – perhaps with AI support?

Either in standard Zwift spinning music or in other genres like techno, house, hip-hop, rock, etc., where the BPM and parameters are predefined or can be set manually, possibly with AI support. Similar to how Lego does it with its Open Innovation building sets?:person_biking::chart_increasing:

I can imagine this being very cool, entertaining, and above all, very interesting for many cyclists, clubs, associations, schools, training providers, etc.

Perhaps targeted group marketing could also be implemented through country-specific cycling federations, clubs, etc.

no, I think you would be better of with Peloton, Zwift is a bit more “serious” for real world cyclists.

That’s a lot of questions. Should I reply “No” just once or “No” to each of them individually?

Zwift events support having an audio soundtrack, and events can have a custom workout which can also have text instructions on the screen. Those events would have to be created by Zwift staff at the request of a community event organizer who would supply the ZWO workout file and an audio file. So it’s not something you could do on your own but if there were demand for it, something sort of like what you suggest is possible. It’s not something I would join personally but I have no idea if it would get any traction with users.

Hey Paul, thanks for the detailed answer. I used to do some “offline” spinning classes and thought that might work well on Zwift too. Maybe like mini in-games or just-for-fun workouts. But I can see why that wouldn’t work well for Zwift workouts.

Try searching “online” spin classes. Options out there and some come with free trials.
