I did another REVO ride yesterday and, as you said, I was sitting up. This helped. (I did see several others sit up briefly - not sure why).

On my REVO ride yesterday I did see the fence. However, it was rather pale and easy to miss. (Not having done these rides before, I expected the fence to be bright and easy to distinguish, like the fence across the starting gate.) I also saw the 60 second count-down timer when I was briefly ahead of the fence.
Perhaps they were drinking. IIRC the drinking animation makes riders sit up too.

Interesting that you say that, I always thought it was to bright and spoiled the view, so I try to stay as far as possible from it.

No, not nearly that bright on my Dell laptop. Before the start I adjusted the screen tilt to the optimum angle. However, during the ride the screen is too far away to make further adjustments (if this would help).
