I bought a Zwift Ride and KICKR CORE 2 a couple of weeks ago, and since setup I’ve had a really annoying grinding noise every time I push the pedals (once per revolution).
The noise seems to come from the left side, exactly from the area shown in the photo attached (circled in red). When I tighten the thru-axle, the sound disappears for a short time, but it always comes back when I stand up and apply more pressure on the pedals and it stays even after I sit back down.
On top of that, the crankset sometimes skips with a loud chain “clink.” I don’t even have to put much force on the pedals for it to happen. I’ve seen similar crankset skipping issues mentioned online (often related to worn chains, but that’s not my case here everything is new).
I already opened a ticket with Wahoo Support, but I wanted to check if anyone else has had the same issue or found a solution.
Hi @Saad_Tadili_GXY, welcome to the Forums! This is Haziel from Zwift Support.
From what you describe, the noise seems to be pointing to the location between the bike and trainer rather than a worn drivetrain (since yours is brand new). I will share these steps that are worth trying:
Please check the thru-axle seating even if it feels snug; sometimes the axle needs to be re-seated carefully. Remove it, check for any debris or burrs, then reinstall and torque it evenly.
Make sure the Zwift Cog is fully tightened with a lockring tool. A slightly loose cog can mimic a chain skip under load.
Please check all bolts on the Zwift Ride frame and trainer mount points. A loose connection can create creaks or grinding noises that sound like drivetrain issues.
Since you’ve already logged a ticket with Wahoo Support, you’re on the right track. In the meantime, I recommend checking this article about noise troubleshooting in zones (trainer, frame, drivetrain, cockpit). It’s worth working through step by step: Zwift Ride is Making Noise.
