Getting impossible resistance on Ramp Test

Light but experienced rider (100lbs) trying to do a ramp test on the Zwift Ride bike with the Kickr Core. Shortly after the resistance starts to kick in, it ramps up to an impossible amount of resistance where I literally can’t even turn a pedal standing on it with all my weight. ERG is on. What am I doing wrong??

sounds like the “spiral of death”, are you keeping a nice even cadence during the ramp test? As you may already know, if you slow down the cadence, ERG mode will add resistance so you hit the power target at a lower cadence, this can cause the spiral of death as you continue to slow down the cadence and resistance increases.

Make sure your FTP is set to something sensible before starting the ramp test.

Also, I think doing ramp test lite is probably a good idea.

I’m assuming that other than the ramp test Zwift is controlling resistance in a sensible fashion.

Don’t use the ERG mode, switch to using gears or just turn the resistance off in Zwift that controls the bike. I used to ride pretty much fixed gear for over a year and only recently moved to changing gears.
