Game update v 1.78 [November 2024]

  • Zwifters riding in Watopia will now see a brand new route overview below the mini map, showing the route’s elevation changes, sprints, and KOMs.This feature will be rolling out to additional Zwift worlds over time. If you deviate from a route at an intersection, the original route overview will be shown instead.
  • In worlds without the new route overview, the original route overview will now always be oriented from left-to-right regardless of your direction of travel.

Has a fix been identified by Zwift for the issue that caused video screenshots to stop working on Windows systems (perhaps due to a Windows update)? It’s a feature I use every ride and is frustrating that it is no longer available. If so, is the fix going out in the next game update?

Android Samsung Tab 7+ user. The customizable HUD is glitching on occasion. It resets to the default display, but when I go to the Settings to change it, it shows my customization still.
Also, any update on when the garage sorting will be back?

The new icon over the head for emotes is bad, please turn it off. Most of them don’t even make sense.

What happened to the alpe HUD on the descent? It’s nice to have it to see how much distance etc is remaining when going down.

I quite like them; also… if someone starts spamming, we can finally figure out who it is.

Though; I wish the “I’m Toast” was actually a slice of toasted bread, that’s the only one I’m sad about.

As for the descent profile that’s what it’s always been, just the segment of ADZ.

Only change is you’re left to right; it used to be right to left, but it’s the same thing otherwise.

Wrong. It always kept the same HUD as on the climb just counted down in reverse.

I will now spam the emotes in crowded group ride pens out of hopes that it will annoy enough people they’ll complain and get it shut off. Why is elbowing a curved arrow? Today nonsensical.

That’s the way I remember it, but it’s been a few months since I was on the Alpe.
I actually posted a graphic and comment about it in another thread.

I have 98 complete ascents and can confirm it’s been that way for years including if you did a partial climb and turned around before reaching the top.

It must be server side because my previous time up was under 1.78 and wasn’t broken like it was today.

Spamming since the Play Controllers came out hasn’t been shut off, so why would that change now?
I fail to see how the icons are significantly worse than the sounds.

For the record; you can still make the sounds without the emotes on PC by using the shortcuts; only when they’re activated via the action bar do the emotes function.

I must be remembering the profile when you’re outside the segment then.

icons are worse because as a user I can turn the sounds off and not have to hear them, but I can’t turn off the icons so they fill up the screen… there is too much going on in the HUD now with all the additions of the climb pro, emote icons, new notifications, and all the old close the gap, name tags, you vs. some random junk on the screen.

remember this scene from Ready Player One? Zwift has now achieved 80% of the screen filled with junk without inducing seizures.

I’m not disagreeing with the excessive HUD items, but are you guys seriously experiencing that many emotes pop up???

I see less than 1 per day since they’ve been public.
That’s hardly “excessive.”

Meanwhile I can’t tell you how many times I hear Ride On per day; but I can say it’s 5-20x more than the emoticons.

If this is all there is to complain about these days, I’d argue Zwift is in a good place then I guess.

Speaking of HUD and screen space, I’d love to be able to toggle off power-ups (I never use them and it’s irritating when I accidentally activate one) and Pace Partners (never use them and they usurp HUD elements whenever you get near one).

Would be great to be able to go to Settings and turn things like that off that you don’t want to see (either temporarily or permanently). I’m all for more customization options.

Isnt it still in test phase where only a very few have this ?

I dont mind the option for the people that like it or asked for it, but why not give the others the option to turn it off.
I had one riders in a race who kept pressing the emotes for 15 minutes streight. That got pretty annoying quickly. Let alone if everyone has it.

I hear the noisy emotes zero times per ride because I don’t turn on my speakers because the Zwift sounds are pointless and mostly annoying. The only good sound to have is the title theme music but since that’s erroneously tied to 3D World Sounds (which I have turned off) I don’t get to hear it.

Because ZHQ is dedicated to removing all visual options and customizations from users. Why? No one knows. But it’s clear the idea of users customizing their experience is antithetical to their mission.

This is doing it wrong. Game Sounds OFF. 3D World Sounds ON.

Ever ride in the London world with 3D world sounds on? The birds sound like chain squeaks. I was trying to chase down the noise in my setup until I realized that the UX experts at ZHQ decided that I should hear random high-pitched squeaks from the world while riding around.

Nope, the same happened again yesterday in London where the robopacer disappeared as I got a bit far ahead and I was immediately circled down to x1.0. It didn’t happen after that as I made sure I was always within 10 meters of him. So something is wrong.
