Taking that to its logical conclusion, that means if everyone in a large group wants to occupy the “preferred line”, all the avatars would be in one place on top of each other. Clearly not possible, so there has to be some “jostling” for position and “fight” against the Zwift programmed churn in a group setting.
That being said, something has been radically changed (don’t know whether it’s a recent release or server side settings). In my last few pacer rides, I am getting very frequently bumped to the edge, and when I try to steer back into the draft, I just have the orange limit shield, even if I hold down or push repeatedly. Most irritatingly, it always seems to push me to the outside around a curve and lose major ground.
As I said, I do expect to have to put some effort into maintaining my position, but there’s a definite change to make this extremely challenging. Previously, it still happened but in a much more manageable way, and I felt it was a reasonable part of the effort of riding in a group.
I don’t think there are any advocates for the change that was apparently made. If you see any please let me know so I can fight them.
Draft-seeking behavior for non-steering riders has been bad since around 1.72 IIRC. What I’m seeing now is not the solution. It does need a solution though.
Buggy version I am afraid. So frustrating. I have this latest app version on Apple tv and iphone companion app. Before, everyting had been working perfectly for months. With this new version, on robopacer rides, the message to wait for the robopacer either does not appear or when it does you have about 5 seconds to get back within the boundary, which is never enough, even if you stop pedalling immediately. Same result in both cases: I am circled back down to x1.0 XPs.
I am at level 51 so I am well aware on how boundaries work in group rides depending on the peloton size, so condecending advice would not be welcome here. With previous versions I had around 30 seconds grace period to slow down to get back within the robopacer boundary but not anymore. New routes are great, as long as you don’t break what used to work fine. Also, on Tour of Watopia stage 5 with the latest app version my lane changing feature lagged so badly it was useless. Is there any way I can get back to the previous version? I will also disable auto app update on my Apple TV box. Thanks. And yes, I rebooted the Apple tv box.
Aside from the robopacer issue I think you’re noticing that they have been testing new pack dynamics in Watopia only. That is enabled server-side and isn’t related to the game update. It was not enabled in other worlds.
Can somebody explain why the Radeon RX 7600 (non-XT) was only assigned the High graphics profile and not the Ultra? Its predecessor, the RX 6600 (with performance less according to benchmarks) does have the Ultra profile enabled according to Zwiftalizer. I’m in the market for a new GPU and was eyeing the 7600, but this makes me hesitant.
I’m finding the latest pack dynamics really challenging and almost unpleasant. I get nudged to the outside and there’s absolutely nothing that can be done (steering, accelerating or decelerating), lose the draft, and have to surge to get back into a reasonable position. The steering controllers have virtually lost all impact (just show the orange shield).
I fully accept there must be some churn in the pack (I can’t just sit in the ideal spot and let everyone else around me do the work). But my power chart shows much more volatile efforts with repeated surges required to keep pace.
