I think this will work for some of us because early riders didn’t get to level 60 as easily as newer riders. But, now we get credit for the actual points over 807,000.
Months of work have only come up with a tiny slash next to your name? What! That’s the reward?
So it seems like people on the “old” accerlate level-up progress that was introduced back with the expansion from lv50 to lv100 get shafted again? After that, newer accounts got faster to 100 than the old users. I’m currently on lv95 with 806,000+ xp and still ages away from lv100.
I wonder if the new levels were in test already in v1.111. I was in a race on Sunday and a rider got leveled up. I saw animation for level 100, other people saw him reach 91, 94, just all over the place (he reached 94).
Then the same happened for another rider who also leveled up and then number we saw was different than reality (he reached level 95). Can someone at Zwift get this tested?
Only an absolute glutton for punishment would think “banking” XP over and over is a sane idea. It is essentially “stealing” well over 2 million hard-earned points just to drip-feed them back like a weekly pocket-money allowance. This logic has already chased plenty of users away, yet the community’s feedback seems to disappear into the same black hole as the points.
After more than a decade of loyalty, this feels like a gold-rimmed invitation to follow Peter Sagan and start at Level 100 on a different playground. If those points end up in a digital vault again, it’s a hilarious sign that it’s time to test if the virtual grass is greener (and less locked up) elsewhere. Earning the same levels multiple times is a fantastic cardio plan, but as a way to treat loyal riders, it’s pure comedy!
I just looked and I’m coming up on 1.1 million so I should need close to 5000km to burn through that bank. I be done with the TP socks in a few months so it’ll be nice to have something else to see some rapid progress on that for a while.
It has been delayed since users were parked at level 50. Then we had a scheme to get from level 50 to level 60.
Then people were parked there for a long time - and someone thought, oh maybe we better do level 100.
Didn’t anyone think why don’t we just have infinite levels at the point from level 50? Surely it was known that people who ride a lot and would easily reach level 60 and beyond in rapid time.
Then the tinkering of different level up points schemes for different cohorts of users. I don’t see how these things weren’t thought of before, especially with all the prior feedback.
The solution with least angry users would be to let people choose if they want to jump straight to the corresponding level (good for those on 7 million XP or more) or progressively reach it. That avoids all the controversy and arguments. I know some will probably hate that idea too because it lacks controversy to go with their popcorn.
And then the slow action on dealing with bots, dubious rider performances and exploits. That bit can’t just written off with a ride more and be happy, because it’s so glaringly obvious. That stuff is surely more important than things like more levels.
And before anyone says “ride more”, I have already.
What if letting people jump ahead made other people mad?
This is probably the final XP/level rejiggering which also makes me unhappy because the arguing over it has been a great source of entertainment. Need to keep in mind the whole “don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened” thing.
I have a shade over 7000 XP to get to level 100 and I’ve now started a spreadsheet to try to work out options on incomplete routes, events and anything else that might give bonus XP to try and complete this in a few days before the big switch gets thrown. I know in the grand scheme it doesn’t matter, it’s just another personal challenge.
