Level Up Effect [November 2025]

We’re rolling out a celebratory in-game effect in phases that you’ll see you when you or others nearby level up. Send a Ride on to those who’ve reached a new level!

This needs an option to toggle it off for both you and others. Especially for others.
While I understand Zwift is / was a social game, there are plenty of other people that just want to ride and not interact with others.

If a 5 second display bothers you that much then you’re not riding hard enough

it’s the compounding factor, there are so many things on the HUD now and new things just keep getting added. Here’s a short list:
Name tags
”Close the gap”
Power ups
Coffee Stops
Lightning wheels
Aero socks
Fire socks
Ride on thumbs
Confetti
”so and so is riding in Watopia”

I’m sure I missed something…

Dust?

Rain?

Maybe I’m unique but I don’t really notice too much when riding and seeing something pop up serves as a nice distraction.

Not all of those are on the “hud” (the overlay graphics), it must be said.

There are the ride leader bad jokes (and actual ride instructions) that get pushed on the middle of the screen blocking the view, those are probably blocking more of the screen than any others mentioned, and they are in big bold text.

I want it on but I hit level 119 and got nothing. It takes me four weeks to level up. Why can’t over 100 riders get a little confetti?

Probably because there is no level 119. Level 100 riders are at level 100 indefinitely, with periodic bonuses.

but i need level 150+

I think the confetti should appear every time there is a bonus, it’s the over 100 equivalent of leveling up until they introduce more levels.

Someone levelled up in the lunchtime race then and had no clue what it meant, just additional noise on the screen for me

After 100, I hit 101 until now 119.

Simple math.

If you look at your level in the game, does it not say 100? I’ve been at 100 for a while, and I’m still at 100 despite picking up the bonus for completing the circle a few times.

Oh no, please not

That is still wrong - if more levels do arrive then the folks who have been looping the progress bar many times should be put up to whatever level they should be at by how many times they have looped that progress bar (36 times in my case).

The fact that people are counting this and tracking it means they don’t trust Zwift to get it right or they suspect some new level up scheme like all the other ones gone before.

Ignoring all those XP gained is not right.

Sure but that’s irrelevant until a level above 100 exists. Until then it’s wishful thinking. I wish for it too but I can’t have it.

That could only happen if the number of XP required for each new level above 100 was exactly the same. Which isn’t a realistic thing to hope for.

All those hours people have ridden are hardly “wishful thinking”.

Zwift just insists on taking the difficult, complicated way rather than adopting a simple method of infinite level ups at 15,000XP per level and at a later time releasing some bikes or other goodies at appropriate levels.

So what if people jump to the new levels right away.

They did the work for it.

Eric Min says more levels are coming. This was on the Thanksgiving Day ride.

Could be just like rowing, though.

That’s right, only the levels are wishful thinking. The rest is real. Everyone who reached level 100 is at level 100. If they repeat the last couple new level changes, we’ll soon be at 101 with a bunch of banked XP.
