Something like Col du Telegraphe would be a good one. It’s not that hard in real life and isn’t super steep. Even with 40ºC when I rode up it with all the cars stuck in a mega traffic jam (one side of the road collapsed) it was okay and certainly easier than some of the others I had done before it.
I’m having the same issue too. Wasted 30 minutes rebooting, power cycling trainer and checking cables. Tired of this stuff, so uninstalled Zwift. Time to bike outside, cancel zwift and move to another platform next winter.
It could simply be that Zwift has done away with the ethernet icon and just gone with using the WiFi icon for all direct internet connections. It does still work, despite the icon change. But I find it strange that that’s not in the release notes, given that a few months ago Zwift specifically created and called out in a release update the new icons, ethernet included, as a feature in the pairing screen to make pairing visually easier. No mention of this in the latest release. It was strange that despite months of no Direct Connect/Ethernet drops, the day I get the update I get a dropout.
I uninstalled/reinstalled Zwift, checked local network settings to allow Zwift to connect, still no Ethernet port icon. I connected to the WiFi pairing, no issues, and unplugged the Direct Connect from the trainer and got an immediate dropout. Plugged it back in, Zwift picked up the signal, and I reconnected, no problem.
So, I guess, at this point, did Zwift just overlook the mention of the ethernet icon removal, or is there something else going on, and should those of us with this trainer set-up expect more dropouts?
Trainer: Wahoo Kickr v5 Direct Connect (no WiFi built in) to router.
Computer: Macbook Air 2023 M1 chip
@marclennox Thanks for flagging this — and sorry for the confusion here.
We missed calling out in the release notes that network connections are now represented by a single Wi-Fi icon, which replaced the previous Ethernet icon. This is only a visual change and doesn’t affect functionality. @Dan_Kothlow@Charles_McCarthy_Vel@dcyclist
Separately, there was a change impacting sensor bridging via Bluetooth that we’ve since reverted. Restarting the game should resolve that issue.
If you’re still having trouble after a restart, let us know and we’ll take a closer look.
Hi, today, 26 March, Update 1.1.16 works fine on my Win 11 laptop. BUT fails to load the update on the Win 10 laptop I use just for Zwifting. Error message,Update failed during patching . Error Code Z-32 at Line 694 in Patcher.ccp. clicking Update Later does nothing. Best regards. Mark
OK. Can I ask why this change was made? Whereas before it was obvious how the trainer was connecting to the game, now it’s completely not obvious, since my trainer has both a Wifi and Ethernet connection. At a minimum, using a universally understood WiFi icon to represent both WiFi and Ethernet is confusing, and instead should be a generic network icon.
I connect via wifi, but I expect if I had the ability to connect via ethernet and it showed a wifi symbol while connected to ethernet that it would be very confusing to me, and I’d spend a bunch of time trying to debug why I was always connecting to wifi… Odd change.
Ok, so the update has now worked, BUT, the freezing Win 10 issue is back when selecting a route or Pace Partner ride. I then have to force a shut down. I had already uninstalled the last Windows Update. Regards
If I use both WiFi and Ethernet (Direct Connect), how do I now distinguish between the two? Before it was obvious with the Ethernet port icon, now, not so much.
Honestly if it wasn’t block colors and floating shapes, it would be brilliant. I absolutely love the climb portal but my wife is absolutely dumbfounded that I can ride with for hours with the graphic in the 1990’s arcade states.
There are plenty of climbs at 4-5%. Would I like to add some others, that I’ve been fortunate enough to ride IRL, ABSOLUTELY, but it’s a nice options sans graphics.
