Game Update 1.17 - September 15th, 2021

Update 1.17.1 - September 20th

  • Fixed an issue that would cause native bluetooth pairing to fail on some Windows 10 devices.

Hi Craig! Good feedback, Brother. It looks like deleting and reinstalling the Zwift app on the Apple TV was the thing that fixed my problem of no resistance. I teach physics for a living and am fairly embarrassed that I didnā€™t run a controlled experiment by deleting and reinstalling one app at a time. You deserve a pat on the back and I deserve a kick in the pants.

And you are also right about your second point. Zwift needs to show its customers some courtesy in their forums by posting a brief comment that they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix. Are you listening Zwift? We are not asking for your first born male or female child. Just a little respect for customerā€™s time and energy as they try to navigate your broken updates.

Yes. The progress bar, route name, and distance to go worked for the first day and that was it. On my ride yesterday I sent a message out to the Zwift world I was riding and asked if others were missing these metrics. A couple responded and said the metrics were missing for them too. I am running Zwift with the Companion App and Apple TV. So the problem is on Appleā€™s tvOS and iOS too.

Same for me. I had to uninstall, reinstall, and reupdate to get it to connect to my laptopā€™s bluetooth. The trouble is, the progress bar is missing from all routes, and now after I save, it justs immediately exists the program. Itā€™s like the update actually reverted back to a previous iteration of the application.

Thanks for the feedback, Jean-Francois. It looks like the missing route progress bar is a widespread issue. I donā€™t know what Zwiftā€™s QC procedure is for their updates, but whatever it is, they need to change it.

Same. Riders veered out into the middle of the road to pass other riders. Sometimes even when another rider wasnā€™t even there!

I rode in London again tonight and something had definitely changed. Drafting and overtaking seemed perfect tonight.

Zwift must have changed something their end.

It looks like the Route Progress Bar is back and the avatar swerving into the middle of the road has been fixed and is back to normal.

On iPad so I havenā€™t updated the client from 1.17 so itā€™s definitely something Zwift has changed on their end.

Just tried the radio tower and still canā€™t ride up there. Bluetooth just turns off. The trick of connecting through the app didnā€™t work. Had to reconnect and the do a U turn before it disconnected. Took 5 attempts. Real pain in the ass. Everything is OK when I get back to the main road.

Please fix this Zwift. Everything was great until 2 updates back and Mountain 8 is one of my go to rides.

Tacx 2T + ATV ERG mode was not working in ZA WO#3 Hope this is a one off.

since the update (and the further update today), my windows edge based computer has frozen eight different times during rides (I am persistent), at different points ranging from the first few seconds of a ride to 20 minutes in. The computer is a few months old and I bought is specifically for Zwift. I checked the graphics card - up to date. It is hardwired into my router (no wifi) at 100/100. I uninstalled and reinstalled Zwift. I checked my firewall and Zwift has permissions. Nothing has helped.
What changed with the update that has led to this collapse and what can I do to correct it?

Updated to 1.17.1 on Windows 10 tonight just before a meet up.
30 minutes in trainer (Elite Drivo 2) bluetooth connection lost.
Looking in pairing, no signal. Stopped bluetooth on IOS device. Signal returned at pairing screen. Returned to game (ios bluetooth still off), started ok but dropped within 5 seconds. Tried multiple times same thing.
Rebooted laptop and tried a single ride not meet up and worked ok.

Another post in my continuing saga of varied problems with resistance from my trainer after the recent update. I just finished Zwift Academy Workout #4. Erg mode was a total disaster (didnā€™t work) and even in incline mode it was a crazy mess at times to try to generate the required wattages of the workout. I had thought that completely deleting the Zwift App from my Apple TV and the Companion App from my iPhone had solved these resistance problems. But, they returned. So what I believe is now the only workaround it to force quit the Zwift App on the Apple TV after each ride (double click the TV icon on the remote and then swipe up on remote to remove/quit the Zwift App) and force quit the Companion App on the iPhone AFTER EACH RIDE.

I wouldnā€™t call this a workaround. I would call it a best practice. I and many others on Apple TV have been doing this since Zwift became available on Apple TV years ago. I believe I have even seen Zwift themselves recommend this in order to prevent and/or solve problems.

This is just Zwift being lazy after they screwed things up with the August updateā€¦ Lazy programmers and means with a documented work around theyā€™ll not fix the underlaying issue which THEY created.

I will check today, as it this weeks TTT location

There was an update this morning but I didnā€™t see what the version number was because I was busy trying to get ready for The Shimano. It was rather extensive judging by the amount of time it took to download and install. Most of the time itā€™s 10 seconds or so. This was closer to a minute. Iā€™m on a 1gb fiber connection/wired 1gb LAN so sh*t happens pretty quickly as long as the server is fast too.

Iā€™ve not seen anything about this one. I was on Zwift Monday morning so I thought I was up to date with bugdates. Anybody hear anything about this one?

Thanks Steve, it was a big issue then because I canā€™t remember a bugdate taking so long to finish.
