Please make an app for game consoles so we can take advantage of the power offered by next gen consoles like the XBox Series X. True 4K at 60 or 120 FPS without the need to maintain and expensive PC would be perfect. You can already get FULGAZ and many other entertainment apps for the XBox. This seems like a marriage made in heaven that could truly differentiate Zwift from many other fitness apps and services. Odds are, the kind of people that gamification of fitness would appeal to, already have a gaming console in their home. If that’s not an ideal target market, I don’t know what one is.
If you agree, please give this post a vote and share your support throughout the forum so it will be recognized by Zwift as a highly sought after request.
Dave - Thanks for the reply. I agree it can be done for about the same cost if you build it yourself but there are several issues with this.
Not everyone has the skills to build one
I am a certified PC technician, I have it on my PC and I still find it to be a headache. Half the time, I have connectivity issues and just wind up switching to my Apple TV
Many people probable already have a console, if not several consoles, so there would be no need to spend another $500 to build a PC
Agree on points 1 and 3, that’s fair enough (though building is far less difficult than people think). You shouldn’t be having issues with Zwift on PC though, I don’t have any and I’m not a certified technician. It’s rock solid if suitable hardware is used and set up right in the first place, the concept that the game is somehow less stable or more complicated to maintain on PC is a myth.
I got a used gaming computer off Facebook marketplace just before COVID brought the world to a halt. A couple Generation old i9 with a RTX 2070 super for $1,100. Has some minor issues but going for an Xbox or other gaming system would have been easier than trying to find something like this, at least the last time I looked.
That’s crazy money for Zwift though. 4K60 can be done with a modern i3 and GTX 970. I totally appreciate the ease factor, but if anyone wants something good (without being ripped off) they need to be willing to put some effort in. Or find someone willing to build for them.
