Future events disappear on Windows laptop

I’m not sure this a bug, but it is frustrating. I scan Events on a regular basis in order to plan using one. But, when I look again a few days later an Event that I wanted to ride no longer appears.

Ex: Last weekend (9/27-29), I found a ride posted by ZHCC for a Rubberband Social Ride on Navig8. But, today (9/30) that event is no longer shown (I link from Zwift Insider to Upcoming Events on this Route).

Perhaps ZHCC canceled the event. But, I have seen this happen on other Events. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Hi @BigHead_Bull
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. Would you help us understand your workflow better by showing us what’s happening?

  1. When you select and event - are you doing that on the zwift.com/events webpage, within the game app, or by using the Zwift Companion app?
  2. Whichever of those methods you use - please screenshot the event with the checkmark indicating you’re registered.
  3. Then go to the Homescreen and screenshot where it is missing - do you expect that to appear in the For Your carousel, or the Events carousel?

Hello Shuji,

  1. I didn’t select an Event. I noticed the event I wanted by going through Zwift Insider’s route description and clicking on “Upcoming Events on this Route”. That took me to Zwift Events by Zwift Hacks where the event was listed.

  2. I can’t take a screenshot of the event as it is no longer showing in Zwift Hacks events. Also, I can’t take a screenshot of my registration since I didn’t register.

  3. I can’t fulfill this request either.

Perhaps there weren’t any other registrants, so the ZHCC club decided to either delete the event. I have also noticed that the club now has a ride on Sand and Sequoias in the same time slot as the event I first noticed. Perhaps the club just changed the route.

Regardless, if there is guidance that I must register for an event rather than waiting, or the event can change or be canceled, then I’ll take that advice.

Thanks for your response.

Regards,
BigHead

For that specific event I would go to the ZHCC club and ask about it.

Hi Paul,

The ZHCC club link that you sent takes me to a page to join the ZHCC club. Do I have to be a member of the club before I can join their ride? I really don’t want to join the ZHCC club.

BTW: I’ve noticed similar circumstances for the Bike MS rides. I joined that club and can see their events through their club page that seemed to disappear from the Zwift Hacks events.

Cheers,
BigHead (aka Scott)

You don’t have to join a club to get in their public events, but if you join you can ask questions in the club chat. Some clubs also do private events that you can join if you’re a member but if it’s on the public calendar that’s not necessary. My goal here is to help you get to the source of information about their events. You can always leave the club later if you don’t want to be part of it.

Thanks for the explanation.

I’m not sure how Clubs set up events but I think this is exactly what happened. The previous weeks route for this Club was Navig8. I expect they decided to change this week’s route after you first looked the event up.

One other thing - the game’s home screen is intentionally designed to serve activity options happening in the next 60 minutes that you can jump in to.

If you signed up for an event that’s further off in the distance - it won’t appear on the home screen until an hour before the start time.

Are you going into Zwift Hacks through your own search or are you accessing Zwift Hacks through the ZwiftInsider “upcoming events on this route”.

I’m probably stating the obvious but if Clubs change the route a link from the old route is no longer going to work.

Thanks Zwifters! I think I have what I need to understand the situation and to improve my own usage.

Support is never easy, and software (especially with a decade of updates ;-). can lots of bugs yet to be found and fixed. From my background (40+ years in embedded systems, data communications, and software), I think you folks do a great job.
