I tested by just spectating other riders and handing out “Ride Ons” ![]()
If that was enough for a crash/freeze/track of errors
then my offer is a bit overkill ![]()
Is there enough specificity known as yet whereby you can specify what computer shoppers should consider avoid purchasing for zwift usage?
Here one of my voodoo guesses how to avoid zwift crashes:
If in Makuri Islands or doing the Watopia Big Ring I seem to be able to execute 3+hour rides.
Doing rides on the “old” roads in Watopia (example: triple flat loops) causes a freeze between 1,5 and 2,5 hours…
Don´t know about other routes or worlds havent given them a try…
I was having crashes too but it seems to have stopped after I updated the bios and switched to bluetooth only. I found the motherboard make and model and used that to find the latest bios updates when updating the bios read everything about how the updates are installed and all the prerequisites when doing the updates. I had to install 3 different bios updates until I got to the latest version. I also switched any connection using ant+ to bluetooth.
yes i’d find this helpful - currently contemplating buying an ipad from Backmarket (£300) just to be able to run Zwift, which seems crazy hey? With these sorts of hardware requirements, there’s a risk that many users will be priced out of being able to use Zwift and resort to alternative platforms, which offer workouts with reduced graphics. That’s the boat I’m currently in anyway
We don’t have a perfect list of potentially affected devices to share at this time (and it’s really more about the components within those devices, since one model of laptop from the same manufacturer can have various different hardware components from other manufacturers), but based off of customer reports here, the issue appears to be correlated to Windows devices specifically using AMD CPUs with integrated GPUs, and that correlation appears to be inversely proportional to the amount of RAM (i.e. less RAM seems to increase the likelihood).
We have not observed instances of this specific issue on Mac, iOS, Android, or Windows devices not using AMD integrated GPUs.
That being said, our goal is to mitigate the issue regardless of components, which we believe will be possible.
@john_booth2 Thank you for sharing this - would you mind sharing more details about what make/model device you are using, and your CPU/GPU?
AMD Ryzen 5 2600x cpu 16 gb ram
Nvidia geforce gt 1030
Yesterday → Makuri Islands → 3h → No crash.
Again no crash. Wondering if I should “try” Watopia again…
Watopia 2 Laps Big Ring 3h no crash.
update, my pc blue screened launching zwift today. blue screen said page fault in non paged area.
testing disk and files with chkdsk /f /r
will update with results, maybe my SSD is having issues.
chkdsk /f /r resolved some corrupt files on my SSD drive. First ride on watopia and no issues.
Hey everyone,
since some time I have occurring freezes where the app won’t respond anymore so I manually have to shut it down which is really frustrating and annoying because I am not able to do long rides and lose data.
This happened to me four times over the last three weeks. Before that, I never had any issues in the last 3–4 years.
1st time: 07.12.2024 after 50 minutes
2nd time: 17.12.2024 after uploading the data to strava
3rd time: 20.12.2024 after 2 hours
4th time: 23.12.2024 after 40 minutes
I tried:
- charging the laptop during the rides
- deactivating auto video recording
- uninstalling the game and freshly install it
I’m really frustrated and not willing to pay 200 euros a year if I have to fear a crash in every ride.
I can’t attach the crash file, so please advise how I can help to resolve this issue.
My Laptop has the following spec:
Ryzen 5 4500U
8GB of DDR4 Ram
Wifi Connection
Windows 11
Thanks in advance for your support, and let me know if any additional information is needed.
The game has been unstable on your PC hardware since version 1.78
Here’s the latest update:
You may be able to ride longer if you add more memory. You may want to install the latest Radeon driver downloaded from the AMD website. Even so it may remain unstable until they release a fix.
Thanks for the response.
That matches with the timeframe since when I am receiving these issues.
So ill have to use my android phone which is 5 years old which is hilarious that this device is more stable than an 0815 laptop.
If they don’t fix it until I have to pay my yearly subscription, I will consider changing the app to something more stable and less expensive. Quite sad to see the biggest cycling game companie struggling to fix something that worked for the past 3–4 years while charging more money than ever for their product.
My wife’s computer is having issues the last 3 rides. It completely locks up and often we have to do a hard reset to get the computer turned back on. This has never been a problem in the last couple years we have used zwift.
Details on her computer:
Lenovo Yoga 6
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 4500U w/ Radeon Graphics
RAM: 8GB
Any ideas how this could be resolved?
Todays ride in Watopia on “Triple flat route” crashed after about 1h 20min…
So my voodoo Tip to avoid crashes at the moment is:
Avoid Watopia especially the routes in the “old” north…
no idea if that is just what works for me or is totally irrational but the past
days Zwift let me ride my 3+hour rides in Makuri and the Watopia “Big Ring”.
Today as I expected crash on “triple flat route”… ![]()
So I just updated each driver of all of the AMD ryzen equipment (cpu, gpu) and now Zwift became completly unusable.
Every time I try to finish a ride it freezes…I tried atleast 10 times just right now.
With the outdated drivers I could atleast ride and use the “inprogressactivity” fit files.
I guess I am forced to cancel my montly subscription… it’s pretty messy.
Sorry that happened! do you have any other devices that could run Zwift in the meantime, phone or tablet?
