Firmware updated. Cog recognised but keeps disconnecting. Everything on Bluetooth. Gear shows on screen but fails to change gear. It worked on a couple of occasions intermittently but kept dropping off. New battery.
What sort of device are you pairing it to?
When you say firmware updated, do you mean both the trainer and the shifter?
Elite suito t. Latest firmware that Elite claims compatible with Cog. Pairing via bluetooth. Connection was successful and worked but kept dropping during rides. The ‘gear’ was showing on zwift screen, but wouldn’t change up or down. Blue flashing light on shifter whilst pairing then when connected steady blue light, but then intermittently light would go out and pairing dropped. No red light at any time.
Can you confirm that the Upgrado app and the MyETraining app from Elite have been terminated?
Did you also update the firmware on whichever shifting device you are using (I assume it’s a Click shifter since you said new battery)? That’s done in the Zwift Hardware menu in the Companion app.
What type of device are you running the game on?
Yes upgrado not running. Elite myetraining not running. I used ipad to upgrade elite firmware using upgrado.
Running Zwift on windows 10 pc.
Switch was updated in the companion app
Thanks
I have seen Windows PCs with Bluetooth adapters that don’t perform reliably. The most recent person I worked with on that problem had similar issues - the stuff all paired up but frequent dropouts made it completely unusable. Brand new gaming PC with on-board Bluetooth/WiFi adapter. The solution was to disable the on-board Bluetooth device and install a USB Bluetooth dongle on a 2m extension cable. Suddenly everything is rock solid. Two of those adapters that I can personally vouch for on Windows 10 are the Edimax BT-8500 and the TP-Link UB400, both around US$12.
If you want to see if you are getting Bluetooth dropouts / disconnections you can upload a log file to zwiftalizer.com and it will visualize it for you. But even without doing that, I’m pretty certain that is what’s going on.
Thank you. I was wondering about the bluetooth dongle. I have ordered a TP LINK UB500. If that doesn’t fix things I’ll try one of those you recommend. Regards G
I think the Edimax BT-8500 and the TP-Link UB500 have the same Realtek chipset so they are likely equivalent
