I have 2 Sterzo Elite and they both quit working while using a laptop. They will work when running Zwift on our Android tablets though.
To get steering to work, I have to run Zwift on my laptop, then pair devices through Companion App. This is the only way I can steer,… please fix this issue, I wasn’t pairing through ZCA before, I shouldn’t have to now.
I think you are the only person to report this. I’m not sure what’s going on but I would upload log files to zwiftalizer.com to see if there is a Bluetooth connectivity problem when pairing directly to the laptop. If there is, using a Bluetooth dongle on an extension cable and disabling the built-in Bluetooth controller might help, though that doesn’t explain the change.
The next day I received another update, then there was another update yesterday I believe. I didn’t get a chance to test until 1hr ago, but steering is back on my windows laptop.
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. Thanks for following up to report that the Sterzo is behaving as it should. That is helpful to us at ZHQ troubleshooting your issue as well as the forum users reading along.
@Serg_Soldatov
We took a look at your game logs, and they indicate that your batteries are dying, or perhaps the battery door is not properly closed. Please try 1) replacing your batteries and 2) update your PC to game version 1.73.2. The second thing seems to have helped Jason. Would you try those two things and let us know what happens?
I have the same problem. Sterzo is connected, I can see the handlebar indicating the steering is on, however I can’t steer. Free route, group ride, race… All the same.
Laptop, windows 11, Zwift 1.73.
Edit: the blue and white wheel icon indicating steering is ON does not appear anymore.
For the last week, I’ve had to disconnect my Sterzo and reconnect–after starting an activity–to get steering to work.
Steering detected like normal.
Pick activity.
Start activity.
No steering.
Open pairing screen.
Disconnect from Sterzo.
Reconnect to Sterzo.
Steering works.
This has happened multiple times, the latest time an immediate reconnect didn’t work–I had to exit the pairing menu back to my activity and re-enter pairing, and then reconnect, for steering to work.
Have replaced batteries with new batteries, getting full green bar signals from Sterzo in pairing menu. Did this the first time, didn’t work until I did the above disconnect/reconnect process.
I have a similar issue (as does one of my TTT buddies from 4Star racing.)
Steering became rubbish after the latest update. It shows as connected but I have no steering. It is REALLY annoying.
I opened up my sterzo unit to check that I had good battery connection and cleaned all the contacts (a fair bit of sweat has got in to the battery zone it is a fault in the sterzo design) and have tidied that up. I will replace the batteries AGAIN and use a different BT dongle and failing that uninstall Zwift and do a fresh install, but after that can I get a techie to look over the logs if it is still not going, please? I really dislike having tech issues
As far as I can tell update 1.73 somehow corrupted my laptop BT adapter. Everytime I tried to load my Sterzo it would kill the connection, but everything else that was BT was fine, like music and discord.
After 1.74 it still didn’t work, but would work with pairing with Android tablet. So I checked my device settings and my BT connection was so corrupt that I had to reinstall and update the driver.
Still problems here. Tonight it wouldn’t work at all–disconnecting and reconnecting did nothing, tried seven or eight times. A couple of times it would seem to connect properly, but would steer me all the way to the left immediately and then just stop working, after maybe five seconds.
BT adapter and drivers are fine, Windows sees no problems with them. New batteries. The Sterzo would show as connected the whole time, symbols next to my name in the Nearby Riders list, and when I went into pairing. Each time I’d disconnect and reconnect, it would show 4 green bars of signal strength and connect right away.
Zwift 1.74. Hasn’t worked right since the last update.
Just going to tag @shooj here so someone sees this, given that it’s been marked as solved.
