Draft with different groups

The draft during races should only apply to the group you ride in. That’s why there are groups. Because the riders from the higher group are still too strong for the lower group and affect the race. Each group should have its own draft, that’s the only thing that would be fair during races, especially in those races that are run over several laps.

You must be doing a mass start race? There are plenty of races where the different cats are not mixed so there is no chance to draft off a higher cat.

I’ve thought it would be nice for a setting where higher cats can draft lower cats but the lower cats can’t draft the higher cat rider

That would mitigate the need to separate the cats and solve the common complaint of newly promoted racers from riding alone yet not allow the stronger rider to blow up the slower race.

No, it’s not a group start. Each group starts separately 1 minute apart on the same track and they can see each other, there should be a draft by group here

oh I understand now, on a crit course or perhaps where lapped riders could be a thing, yeah that would be a fun option to turn on for certain races.

DNF rate would go sky high, DOA move on now.

Whether other categories are visible or not is an option.

I believe that if you can see them you should be able to draft them, and that if you are starting with them and can see them, you should be racing them (ie. don’t mass start different categories).

If you want entirely your own race you should be choosing races where other categories are not visible.

The group above your group isn’t too strong. A rider that is 161 in a their group of drafting a 269 is going to have a harder time than a 269 drafting the next group rider at 271.
