Zwift, please disable draft between opposing teams in all TTT events. This is a widespread, common occurrence creating tension between clubs, causing dropped riders, unfair results, and spoiling the overall enjoyment of the TTT.
It has been suggested in the past that perhaps differentiating teams by their row assignment makes this technically feasible.
We (WTRL) did raise a request directly with Zwift when the TTT start system was first developed.
There is a need enable or disable draft between riders that start on different rows. i.e. if your team starts on Row2 and catches up with riders from Row1 - there should be no draft available between teams though riders on the same team can still draft each other.
Most teams do manage to overtake with good etiquette and most riders are aware that they should not interfere with other teams though the few that do interfere cause a very poor Zwift user experience.
Zwift did listen to all the requests for a proper TTT mode and then listened to all the requests to allow TT bikes to draft from each other and both were implemented. Our request with Zwift to prevent teams drafting from each other has been active since the TTT mode was completed (at least 18 months ago) and we did highlight this need during the development stages of the TTT mode.
It would certainly help us (WTRL), the 20,000 or so people that take part in ZRL TTTs each round and the 3,000 to 5,000 others that take part in the Thursday TTT
I’ll share this in team Valhalla but @Martin_WTRL , you could motivate a large number of TTT riders to vote by having this request of yours in one of your newsletters or FB posts.
i am unsure as to how my suggestion that the two teams “fight eachother irl” was received as it was my turn on the front. names cropped to protect the uh, innocent.
At least in the interim, if you’re always operating at the same times each week and everyone is properly consistent about it… no harm in asking your captain or whoever is setting the team up weekly to adjust the time by a few minutes to lessen the chances of this.
I believe (don’t quote me on this; possible it was just a stranger requesting) Rich from FRR has also put in requests that individual pens can’t draft off of each other either.
Point being however, it’s just once again evident that Zwift needs “team” functionality; and I think this would slot in there, alongside a global team chat on Companion.
I support this, logical, smart change.

Figure I’ll tag you as my final attempt at pushing this feature request. I think it would really balance the fairness and enjoyment of TTTs. I really have seen so many occurrences within our club’s team chats. Do keep us posted on any word from staff about potentially working on this. Thanks!
