Sometimes it’s nice to cycle along side other riders socially, afterall its one of many features that make Zwifting so much fun, but occasionally you just want to meander along at your own pace. I’m noticing when free-riding that riders seem to bind together if two or more riders are doing a similar pace (a kind of invisible elastic). The other day when this happened to me, another rider stuck to me whatever pace I did (i tried cranking up the watts and I also stopped peddaling (0 watts)…the other rider was still there glued to me. When I changed view I noticed the other rider was taking a coffee break, but zwift had maintained them ‘neck to neck’ with my avatar. I was wondering whether this is an intended feature in Zwift, or a software bug? Of course when riding with a friend ‘meet-up’ I believe this elastic feature can be switched on/off and makes perfect sense. But for another rider to seemingly be glued to me was quite frustrating!
thats how the coffee break works, its attaches you to a closeby rider and sticks with them, if the rider stops so does the person on the coffee stop
That is how coffee break works. Not a bug.

You can also u-turn as well, provided you are not on some big climb where the lap time is important to you or you want the route badge.
If you really want to avoid it (and sometimes you do want to ride alone) just create your own club and do a private event.
