Crashes after latest update

After latest update swift has crashed/hung/stopped 3 times out of 3 uses.

What is your Zwift device spec?

If it uses an Intel integrated graphics, you might be getting same issues others and myself had last week, on our HD520 equipped Surface Pro 4s. Updating to 2022 driver solved this.

I also continue to have freezing on my Surface Pro 4 after the most recent software update (February 2026)

My Surface Pro has the following specs:

  • 16 GB RAM

  • Intel(R) Core™ i7-6650U CPU@2.20 GHz

  • 128 MB graphics card Intel(R) Ins(R) Graphics 540

I uninstalled the current graphics driver, downloaded the 2022 driver from Intel and installed it as Administrator. Restarted the laptop several times during this process and confirmed that the 2022 driver was installed. Zwift still froze on me a few kms into my test ride.

I then reinstalled Zwift on my laptop and also reinstalled the companion app on my iphone. This time I got 35 minutes into my ride before the laptop and companion app froze.

I have Zwift running in Windowed mode at medium resolution on my laptop.

Below is the screenshot of my task manager at the time everything froze.

.

I’m not sure what else to try. I’ve reached out to Zwift user support via email.

Well that sucks. The only other suggested workarounds I can offer are to try other worlds or avoid events with lots of participants or run the game on something else for now. It seems clear that something changed that made systems like this unhappy.

Pretty sure I’m running full screen and lowest resolution option.

Not tried changing either of those options since installing the 2022 driver.

@Paul_Southworth Yep. It is a bummer! I’m going to see about running the game on a different laptop but it sure would be nice if I could get it back up and running reliably on my Surface Pro. If Zwift is able to help, I’ll post again in case it helps someone else.

@Steve_Cl Have you ever looked at Task Manager to see how much CPU and Memory are being used by Zwift during a ride?

I overheard that this same problem affected a Celeron G3900T, HD510 graphics. Also a 6th gen CPU.

After a few back and forth emails with Zwift engineers it appears that there isn’t any other solution other than installing the graphics driver from Intel. Oddly I did upgrade the graphics driver for a friend on her Surface Pro 4 (with the same configuration as mine) and it worked for her. She doesn’t have the freeze problem any longer. But it didn’t work for me so I’m using a different computer for Zwift now.
