Windows 10 freeze on Surface Pro 4/Intel integrated GPU [February 2026]

Game freeze after 5 minutes, companion app seams to work but the screen ist frozen in Windows 10.

I installed today the Update

Updated earlier on my Surface Pro 4. Since then, had multiple game freezes around 1min mark of riding while ride continued on Companion app on mobile. One instance of game freeze during launch on logging on screen.

Updated Zwift app on both mobiles, short ~20min test on Poco F3 mobile worked fine.

I’ve had Zwift installed on multiple devices for years without issue.

Will look at Surface Pro 4 again tomorrow.

Are you running this video driver? It looks like that laptop has a 6th gen CPU…

Not sure, will check tomorrow, thanks.

Was fine yesterday, but it’s ~10 years old and became my Zwift tablet when the touchscreen went temperamental ~2+ years ago for my better half. The charging socket also has been wonky for few years too, the port plug sometimes needs a wiggle to get the charging white light to stay on!

Using a wired keyboard plus mouse via kb’s usb port.

Jetblack Victory paired via WiFi, Coospo hrm connected to Victory, Zwift Plays paired to Companion app on my old mobile Xiaomi Mi A2.

When running fine on Poco F3, had Zwift Plays paired to it and not running Companion app on Mi A2

Sounds similar to my issue posted in the update thread, except my freezes of game (but not companion app) were happening sooner, within ~1min of my avatar being in a world.

My Surface Pro 4 runs Windows 10 too.

What pc spec?
What turbo and how are you pairing it to Zwift?
Are you also running virtual gears with Zwift Cog and Zwift Play?

Hopefully this thread will get merged into main update thread.

That’s three similar reports now including mine about game graphics freezing, but other parts of game continuing.

Our Surface Pro 4 is the i5, so HD520 also apparently.

Still need to look at it today and check driver, Paul posted link to a driver last night further up this thread.

Interessting

I have a Windows surface 4 pro too

I did a test, it happens without a connectio to my wahoo kicker. And it dosnt happen when i just watch others.

Seams like it works in low quality graphic…but not yet sure, but it didnt happen for about 10 minits. (I just let the Games running without doing anything).

Yep…it frozes directly when i Switch Back to high Resolution

I would like to know if this helps you or not…

It dosnt work on the surface

Can you tell me which model of CPU is in your Surface? Check Windows System Information app.

Initially, I had similar error, said I couldn’t install Paul’s link driver.

I then went to graphics properties that gave driver details (it was from 2018 and ended 6299 iirc, part of an all-in-one Surface Pro package I downloaded a few years ago) and uninstalled device driver (bottom option on info window).

It asked to reboot which I did, Then went back to Paul’s driver download and selected “run as administrator.”

It took a long time, like ~5mins, but it installed the 2022 driver and I rebooted.

Very quick test with just Victory connected over Wifi (didn’t pair Zwift Plays to my Mi A2 mobile via Companion app) and I had no graphics freezes in over 5mins of avatar being in worlds.

Will do proper test later.

So far, thanks @Paul_Southworth !

I downloaded the latest Driver package from Microsoft, but that didnt change anything.

The Games Crashes regardless of Video settings

It is Intel Core i5-6300U @ 2.40Ghz

Sometimes ist freeze instantly Sometimes it runs for 10 minits.

Now i asked myself why i had no freeze while watching others?

Dosn switching view clear graphic Cache?

Hey Steve,

I think that worked, I downloaded the driver in .zip format then i went to device manager and said update from directory and it did update and now it’s seams to work, i even could tab out of zwift and back into zwift which didn’t work with the old driver!

I’ve literally just come off the turbo from doing a 45min group ride myself, with Zwift Play controllers paired to Mi A2 running Companion app and Surface Pro 4 running Zwift (Victory paired over wifi, Coospo hrm paired to Victory), thanks again @Paul_Southworth
