Hi. First time posting so hope I’m not repeating past posts or posting in the wrong place. The problem I have is I lose connection approx every 15 seconds for Just a few seconds and this cycle repeated. First my rpm then my BPM disappear and my avatar stops pedaling and then returns to normal for 15 seconds and keeps repeating. I had this issue last week and uninstalled Zwift and companion and it started working, may have been coincidence. Does this sound like a Internet, Bluetooth or Zwift issue ? I’m use a Apple TV Zwift hub and Pixel 7. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
How are you pairing? Via Companion, or directly to the Apple TV?
Via the companion app.
I would test it by pairing the trainer directly to Apple TV instead of via the Companion app and see if it’s more reliable. When you pair via Companion, you depend on both the Bluetooth performance of the phone, and also the performance of your local WiFi network. If you pair directly, that removes your WiFi network from the equation, and you use Bluetooth in the ATV instead of in the phone. So based on your description the problem could be either WiFi or Bluetooth problems, but not Internet. On Apple TV you also need to force-quit the Zwift app after every ride or you can run into performance problems. It’s one of the drawbacks of Apple TV.
Thanks I tried doing that tonight but found my Zwift click gears wouldn’t connect, it’s seen on the pairing screen and says connecting but never does and my heart rate shows as connected but with no heart rate showing and then says no signal. So connected via the companion app and everything worked ok for the first 45 minutes the faulted 3 times and then was ok to the end (1hr)
Based on that would you think the Apple TV
Thanks again
The Apple TV only supports two Bluetooth connections, so for your test you should not pair the HRM, just pair the trainer and the Click shifter.
You also have the option to pair the HRM to the trainer, which would eliminate one Bluetooth connection on the Apple TV and might allow you to avoid using the Companion app for pairing.
Hi Paul.
Just tried connecting without the companion app
Found initially when searching for the hub that the Bluetooth signal strength bar flickered between low strength (red) to high strength, then settled down and stayed at full strength.
The pairing screen shows hub as connected but doesn’t show any watt or cadence figures if I pedal.
If I click on a ride I have no rpm power etc and the message ‘connection failure’.
I can see other riders on screen and there info changing and updating as normal.
This could be either Bluetooth interference, or a faulty trainer. I would contact Zwift support. They will almost certainly tell you to investigate wireless interference but since their response may be slow I would get the case open with them and at the same time start investigating some of the interference possibilities.
They’ll probably tell you to look at this:
I recommend also looking at this:
If you have any other devices you can run Zwift on you could also try that. Just be absolutely certain that you are logged into a running version of Zwift on only one device, so if you try it on your phone, power off the ATV. If you switch back to the ATV, delete the app from your phone.
