Previously on my Android phone, when I was in game and the Companion app would show me the map and in game pages, I could tap the Back icon and get back to the default startup screen of the companion app, with who of my followers is Zwifting etc - so I could give them all a Ride On for example.
Does anyone know on an iPhone how I can exit the Game interface of the companion app when I’m riding? (Other than disabling WiFi so I am not on the same network, as I would like the option to get back into the Game interface should I want to)
A year and a half old bump, that’s not good…
I just came from an Android device as well to iOS for Companion (before my device gets knocked off the list of compatible devices of course…)
But… is this seriously not a thing? Are only androids capable of going back to the main menu on Companion?

My workaround is to turn my phone wifi off so it uses my mobile data and then it will take you to the Home Screen.

No there is no solution; although it really depends where you’re trying to get, at least besides the home screen.
One solution could be to use a second device; as it has always seemed only one device at a time can show position and map / ride etc. view at a time. So a second phone or tablet, allows for a “normal” use of companion.
Otherwise, there’s some weird ways to get through things now, such as viewing another rider allows you to actually visit your notifications screen (which I haven’t found any other way to access during a ride otherwise).
But otherwise, no, there is no solution; beyond what David said; which is to disconnect your phone/device from your local wifi entirely.
This is quite a simple fix really, should be easy to implement! A nice quick fix!
