You need to stop pedaling before you confirm the coffee stop.
Otherwise it will be detected as pedaling while in a coffee stop and it resumes your ride.
(which will result in your avatar slowing down and waiting for you on the roadside when you come back from your actual break)
Some feedback:
I think it would be better if the only thing that would stop the coffee stop is if you click the button.
The reason:
- some people continue pedaling while the stop is active.
- coming back from a pee break some may want to ramp up the power.
- sweepers use the coffee break to bring riders back to the group and it will be nice if they can keep pedaling to keep the blood flowing.
Or at least only disable the coffee stop if the rider power goes above Zone 2.

That’s GTK. I can’t recall if I was pedalling or not TBH but I think I had stopped pedalling before clicking start.
It’s an odd requirement if you think about it because if you’re in a small group, there is a fine line between stopping pedalling and getting dropped, so the natural instinct is to not get dropped. I understand that the algorithm will likely find the closest bunch or “deduce it” but for the user, this is not an obvious conclusion and the software should honour the users’ expected behaviour as a first principle, I think (I’m a software developer myself so I think about these things every day).

Not sure this is necessarily true. I pedalled all the way through a coffee stop the other day at 90 watts to see if I could use it as an active recovery interval while staying with a RoboPacer doing 165 watts. It worked just fine. 
My experience has been that if you continue pedaling and start a coffee stop it’s fine. If you start and stop again it ends the coffee stop, which is reasonable behaviour, because it’s a “stop”.
What is the threshold time for detecting that you are not pedaling anymore?
Would imagine whatever the delay on your trainer is.
What happens if I hit the coffee stop and then all guy(s) I am dragged along with leave the game?
Do I halt during the coffee stop?
What happens if I am riding with a group on a chosen route and then.i am far ahead or far behind of the group. Normally I am turning automatically on junctions with the group on the selected route even if I am not with them anymore.
But then I chose to coffee stop and dragged along with guys on another route.
Am I going with them then or do I halt during the stop because they are leaving me on the next junction and I’m alone?
Update: full Coffee Stop functionality available from the Companion App this morning. Excellent

I think a Drops type of Accrual would make a lot of sense for Coffee Break. Earn 30 second break for every 5 mins of continual riding. Max of 3 mins break, which would equate to 30 mins of riding 30/5= 6 segments 6x0.5 =3 minutes.
Not sure how more complicated than pace partners it would be, but this way people have a break if they need it, but only once “earned”.
