We are asking if Zwift would be able to look at making Climb portals available for events or a race series. We have a bespoke chase race series set up for North Scotland cycling clubs and a climb portal series would be a fantastic addition. It would draw in a wider range of competitors to a racing series. Not only would your Zwift race score even the playing field but the weight of the rider would have a secondary affect. Having the ability to set it up as a one off event would also be beneficial as part of our real world TT series we do include some hilly TT’s. This would be a way of continuing a series throughout the winter season.
Climb portals are available for events, but they can be buggy. You should talk to the events team about the limitations and what you want to do. I think currently it’s advised to not try to finish at the top of the climb but contact events@zwift.com and see what they say. An alternative that would be reliable is pick a climb that isn’t a portal climb and use a route that includes that climb, but have a custom finish at the KOM banner. That would also have the benefit of nicer scenery.
Hello Paul, how o you select a climb portal when setting up an event? I haven’t been able to find an official way. We have so far getting everyone to pick the current climb portal route from the just ride section, but it just ends up being a free ride. There are no official timings etc. This also means we only have the climb portal calendar to select the climbs from but this limits us to the dates that they are available.
I think it requires talking to the events team
