Climb Portal Counter and Badges

I have been waiting for this for awhile now and have mentioned it on Zwift Insider before, but I wanted to post it here because I think it would be the next logical step in the Climb Portals.

I’d like to see a counter for each climb portal at each scale. My personal goal is to do every climb portal at 50%, 75%, 100% and 125% at least once, but right now I manage the calculation of that in an excel spreadsheet. I’d like Zwift to have this stored and visible in a “Climb Portal Achievements” section from the Home Screen. If implemented, I’d love for it to count any and all climb portal efforts since the beginning so the counter doesn’t start at 0 even though I’ve done a climb many times.

This can information can also be used for a variety of new badges:

  • 100% Scaling Badges
    • Climb Portal Beginner - Complete all climb portal climbs up to 500 meters
    • Climb Portal Intermediate - Complete all climb portal climbs 500-1000 meters
    • Climb Portal Advanced - Complete all climb portal climbs over 1000 meters
    • Climb Portal Expert - Complete all climb portal climbs at 100%
  • 125% Scaling Badges
    • Climb Portal Champion - Complete all climb portal climbs at 125%
  • All Scales
    • Climb Portal Master - Complete all climb portal climbs at all scaling

I’m sure there are even more badge opportunities in this, but those are the ones I can think of right now.

In the end, I think that (along with XP for the climb portal badges) will give new life to the climb portal, and will be a great complement to the frame upgrades that were recently launched - 1) users can double dip on climbing frames using elevation to upgrade the frame and 2) since there are significantly more distance based frames, this can be a carrot to do more climbing instead of sticking with RoboPacers on flatter routes for the distance upgrades.

Please add this to the plan, it would improve the climb portal experience so much!

If and when Zwift were to implement this, you know it would be starting from scratch.
Just like when the route badges were introduced, even if you did a route like the Three Sisters ( one of the first route badges ) before it had a route badge, you had to ride it again to “earn” that route badge.

I have to at least try! But yeah I’d sadly assume the same
