Hello
Looking to upgrade my Zwift experience from my IPad. Currently looking at Apple TV as a cheaper option to PC set up but concerned about limits on connections.
I run the wahoo kicker one hub with the click for gears.
Does anyone know if the kickr click would count as a one of my connections?
Or is it connected via the kickr stand meaning that the smart trainer and click are classed as one?
If so this would leave the second connection for my hr monitor.
Many thanks
Yes, the Click will count as one of your connections. But you can pair everything through Zwift Companion and it should work fine - that’s what I do with my ATV since I have Play controllers.
In what way are you hoping the experience will be improved by making this change? You will also be giving up some features such as access to log files for troubleshooting, ability to swipe away some UI elements, and custom workout creation (though you could still create them on a different device, but would have to be careful not to leave Zwift running on the second device). You would get the distance to riders behind you on the UI though.
10” IPad is hard to view all info on the screen and from looking at YouTube you get better graphics on ATV.
Graphics on Apple TV are about the same as the iPad. Only Mac and PC get better graphics quality. You also have the option to get an HDMI adapter for the iPad and use a TV. If the iPad has a Lightning connector, this is the thing you would use:
If the iPad has a USB-C connector, this is the correct adapter:
If you want better graphics and frame rates, consider a Mac Mini.

Thanks for this. I guess I could also run it from my iPhone with the lightning cable
Yes phone and iPad graphics are about the same as well. All of these devices get the basic graphics profile and are capped at 30 frames per second. None of them can do 4K. iPhone can’t create custom workouts but other than that it’s pretty much like the iPad, just smaller UI so a little harder to interact with it.
I connect my iPhone to a simple monitor, and it works fine. The only possible issue is battery consumption. On my very old phone, I was limited to about 2 hrs. On my newer phone, it doesn’t make much of a dent. I could probably put the phone on a charging pad and break even.

The AV adapters I mentioned above support charging the phone while connected. Some of the non-Apple adapters do not.
