Apple TV Black screen on startup

Randomly, every 3-5 times I start the Zwift app on Apple TV it starts to a black screen with the login audio playing. I power down gracefully each time, and power up normally. The only resolution is to uninstall and reinstall the Zwift app. At least now I no longer need to enter my username details each reinstall, but it’s still quite irritating.

I don’t see a similar problem elsewhere. The black screen issue is reported for PCs, not Apple TV. Any assistance very welcome.

Do you force-quit the Zwift app every time you finish a session, before you put the ATV to sleep? Because the app doesn’t handle it well if you leave it running all the time.

Thanks Steve. I press the back button and go back to the app menu screen once the ride is over and I’ve returned to the Zwift entry screen. Then I power down the Apple TV device with a long press of the remote power button. Is this the right process? Thanks!

No, that’ll leave the Zwift app running in the background and can lead to various strange problems.

To force-close the app, see the below, and do this every time you finish a Zwift session.
