Android app connection issues

I have attempted 5 or 6 events now and managed to compete in two of them, and tonight I think I figured out what is going on. I open the app on my phone, get connected to my hr and speed / cadence sensors, then start to ride. I then try to cast my screen on to my TV using Samsungs “smart view” setting in the phone and I lose all connection to my sensors.

I am unable to reconnect while still in the app, yet other apps on my phone (strava, wahoo fitness) easily recognize my sensors as connected so it isn’t a sensor issue.

However, from testing tonight it does seem if I open the app, then screen cast, then connect my sensors I am able to ride and have the phone screen be on the TV with no issues.

this seems to be an order of operations issue, so I will try and remember to do the TV first. I jut thought this might help others left sitting at the start line unable to move because their sensors dropped at the last second.

My setup is:
Samsung Galaxy S8
Zwift app v42 1.0.33271
Wahoo Tickr heart rate monitor
Wahoo BlueSC speed and cadence sensor
CycleOps Fluid 2 trainer
Samsung TV

I remember hearing another report of someone having this issue with the Samsung TV! Thanks for pointing out how to get it to work right by following the steps in order.

Hey Alan,
Just found your older posting - thanks! - helpful.
Just switched from racing and big group workouts (Danish Bike Riders, Bolt Racing Team, etc) on Zwift using a W10 PC to using my Galaxy S9 and had connected to Samsung TV , and had opened the Zwift app, paired my Wahoo Kickr Snap, Wahoo speed/cadence, Garmin HR (after clicking the ANT+ icon) but stared riding and had lost pairing either with HR or cadence on my 32" Samsung smart tv. Will try your suggestions for opening order!

And not to confuse things but have been using a Tuwejia USB-C to HDMI adapter to my Galaxy S9 with HDMI connection to Samsung TV and graphics of Zwift on TV are MUCH better than using “smart view”.

And you probably know but you can check your Zwift race results on ZwiftPower. Have fun!
