What issues are you having with sticking it down Al?

Hi Stuart
They don’t even begin to stick on the belt. Tried glueing down with super glue and contact adhesive. Just fly off after 1 k. Most disappointing.

I suspect you may have some contaminants on the area you are trying to stick them down. Sweat combined with the dimpling found on a treadmill belt means they can struggle to stick.

All of those I’ve fitted have had to be superglued down which has never failed to work.

As an alternative you can use a tin of bright coloured spray paint and spray a dot where you would place a sticker. That’s worked for me.

Thanks for the help. I did give the belt a good clean using an old toothbrush. It dried quickly in the heat but came off almost immediately. I’ll try paint. That sounds a great idea.
Thanks

Hi Stuart
Got home today blew off the not so sticky stickers and used a white tipex pen. Works like dream after a few calibration issues.
Thanks for your help.

My pleasure. I wish you all the success for your forthcoming running.

Hello guys. I have had a spotty experience with the run portion of Zwift. Although i do have a bike and trainer along eith apple tv i have not tried that setup yet, but i digress. I really enjoy being able to post metrics to Strava for further review. The calibration feature is pretty cool I think as others have mentioned. Something that has started ocurring lately is that my bluetooth connection seems to disconnect. Something i would really like to be able to do is check my stats/settings without having to start a new run. Im not really sure about the incline settings on my treadmill VS Zwift. One thing ive tried to do to learn the metric system is keep an eye on imperial distance on my treadmill and use metric on Zwift to coincide with training plans. As i mentioned im a slow runner but at 3.5 mph i am jogging and my avatar is still walking.

Having said all this i really enjoy Zwift and am looking to level up my training. This app was a big factor in choosing my treadmill which i have also been very pleased with. Please continue to develop 30 minute workout plans and shorter distance runs. That is all for
now.

I think zwift run is an interesting experience. I have a garmin watch for heartrate, Runn sensor for speed and even the little run pod on my trainers for cadence (which was so lightweight i didn’t notice it at all). I’ve only put in a couple of runs with it so far but I think it’s a great setup.

I think it’s motivating to have the scenery change fairly regularly just like if I was outside and the Zwift-built (as opposed to real world) maps I find particularly good.

The competitive (racing) aspect is for me much less important than the scenery, sound, corners etc. A treadmill doesn’t really lend itself well to variable speed anyway since you have to press buttons etc and it wouldn’t feel as natural as it would on a bike where you have more organic control over your speed.

I can definitely see how training programs would help though (like incline X, speed Y for Z minutes etc).

But yeah just thought I’d share my first impressions as a recent newcomer.

I currently use a “dumb” treadmill with a footpod. The calibration of the footpod is decent. I usually run within 0.1 +/- mph of the speed on the treadmill. but sometimes it can be off by 0.5 mph for an extended period of time which will have a drastic effect in the distance and average pace. When I’m running, the treadmill is set at a constant speed for some duration of time. Usually the speed in zwift will drift up and down. It would be great to have a +/- trim button to force adjust zwift to match the treadmill speed. Alternately, maybe there can be a treadmill speed setting that can be set by the user that zwift will use as a “reference”.

Lastly, these treadmill speed adjustment settings could be used as a fine tuning calibration for the foot pod (live calibration). This is extra data that can be used for better run calibration. It could be toggled on and off when fine-tune recalibration is needed.

Thanks

It would be terrific if Zwift could create its own running power from data on runner’s weight, treadmill speed and incline. This would be very helpful as then could adjust incline within the application consistent with the Zwift world while keeping effort consistent (relatively). Thanks.

Two improvements -

  1. During an activity, let other runners know that I’m in auto-incline adjustment mode on my Kickr Run. Maybe just highlight my name with a symbol of a hill. I am now using a Kickr Run in free run mode with auto-incline adjustment activated, and when I do a group run on a hilly course my pace is all over the place, people I’m running with may not know why pace is constantly changing by large amounts. On my old treadmill I just set incline at 0 and never touched it during the entire run.

  2. Create more shorter running courses in the 3-10 mile range with max grade of ~6% and down to -3% or so. I often want to find a course where I can earn a new achievement, but many of the courses are 15-20 miles +. I may do a 15-20 mile run from time to time, but I would also prefer it does not have inclines of over 10%.

Any chance there are badges or real world shirts for significant mileage milestones? I’ve been maxed out for some time.
