@shooj: Thanks for this update. The piece that is missing, though, is what, if anything, will be offered in place of the 3- and 12-month gift cards? Will Zwift just be going month-to-month or, more what I’m guessing, hiking up the price (again) which is why the GCs at the current price are being discontinued?
Gift cards present a greater exposure to fraud than recurring monthly credit card transactions. Ask any online retailer how big of a problem this is.
There are no plans to raise the price.
@shooj well, it’s good to hear a price increase isn’t in the works. On the flip side, this pretty much wipes out my Christmas list ideas. ![]()
There’s a stickied post on the zwift forum on reddit about gift card fraud. Fraudster buys gift card with stolen credit card details. Sells them online to rubes. Rubes use gift cards on Zwift. Zwift cancels gift cards when the stolen credit card details are reported.
I think the reason is that you can buy a giftcard in dollars. Zwift does however ask much more for their product in EU, (15 euro) and they don’t allow payments in currency of choice.
As 15 dollar is the same as 12,35 euro (at the time of writing), they earn a lot on this. So a EU citizen could buy a giftcard, pay in dollars, and Zwift for US price.
They tell the price difference is because of taxes but that cannot be correct. Every EU country has other tax regulations, so the price should differ between countries, not currencies.
It’s just all about the financial greediness of Zwift.
US price is without VAT, AFAIK. In Europe they should (must…) add the VAT. 12,35 Eur + 20% VAT (Austria) is 14,82 Eur: I pay 15,41 each month. So it is not correct, anyway.
BUT… If I should pay 15 US$ and 20% VAT + what my CC company charges when paying in another currency, it would be more. That’s why I pay and say nothing ![]()
I think it’s a fake site to spy on your credit card details.
A reputable provider would have written in advance that the gift cards are sold out and not after I have entered my credit card details.
Now I’ve made my credit card details public. The zwift team doesn’t do that…
A logical step would be for me to instruct my bank on Monday morning to block zwift.
Unfortunately, it’s the weekend right now, when the nerds from zwift can amusingly withdraw their money …
Today I was online at zwift. The trees all have Christmas balls. I.e. they deal with such nonsense. Instead of using their computer scientists to make the payment method more secure. The graphics looked amateurish and it took me several days of bad weather to make up my mind to buy the gift card.
Zwift should hire a professional software company that knows their way around credit card payments.
Please give me back my money, zwift.
good idea but there are dont move
Shuji, please comment on this: I go through the process, put in all the information from credit card to my e-mail for you to say the gift cards are out of stock? What is the deal with that? Which “secure” payment processor is zwift com using? Thank you for your reply.
In my opinion every normal online store shows the out of stock warning before you put in the credit card information. Not to mention I ordered a cc card especially for this, I normaly use my husbands, but since this is a gift for him, I couldn’t. This is quite ridiculous and worth a lawsuilt if my cc data get stolen and I will know, because I will not use this cc for anything else. This just looks like a way to get our cc information, not ok.
So it appears Zwift will no longer be doing Gift cards - once the year ones are sold out that’s it.
Strange as I know a number of people who give zwift to people for what ever reason and no longer have an avenue to do so…
@Barry_Stevens_SASCC I just worked out that it saves us (kiwis) about 2 months over a 12 month card at today’s exchange rate! Thats mostly due to Zwift not being able to put GST on a gift card which is not legal in NZ.
Could well be why Zwift are shutting it down - too hard for them to manage GST/VAT compliance around the globe as they dont know where the user is based?!?! i.e. being lazy.
@Dean my understanding is GST isn’t applied when a gift card is purchased - it should be applied when used. Which makes it difficult for them. Easy when using in a bricks and mortar store but for the likes of Zwift more difficult as where am I when I apply the code? However the question is how many users will this affect? We were including Zwift with our Trainer rentals, which we can’t do now - so will look at other options like rouvy or fulgaz etc
@Kate_F
100% agree. The webpage should show up front that these are out of stock. We have been working on that for some time, and we expect that to be complete tomorrow.

1year also delete…right???
zwift after only take 1month? but 1month is dont delete my cc information…
zwift seems to let the average user avoid it because of very few people
That site’s coming up as a 504 now.
all people is same issue.
The The at Home Cycling & Running Virtual Training App page has been updated to reflect that eGiftcards are no longer available for purchase. This includes the 1 year eGiftcards too.
It is important to Zwift that everyone can claim they are software laypeople. I am happy to comply with this request.
