Zwift run - HRM connection issue

I use a COOSPO H6 hrm when I am on Zwift, for both cycling and running (Apple TV)

When cycling, no problem. But when running I have problems with the HRM.

  • when first starting a run the HRM takes at least 10 minutes to settle to what might be a correct reading. In this time generally the indicated HRM is at the very high BPM range for me even though I might only be walking or running at a very easy warm-up effort to start.
  • some days after about 10 minutes the indicated bpm will settle down to match my Garmin watch (wrist reading) indicated value. But often through the duration of the run the indicated HR will fluctuate wildly changing +/- 60bpm while I am not changing my level of effort

I never have these problems while cycling, which makes me suspect that there is some kind of bug with the way Zwift running is reading the HRM.

Wondering if this is common?

I recall having similar issues that device the one time I used it whilst running.

I suspect it’s a fitting issue, and it doesn’t handle running motion particularly well (not to mention the general uncomfortable feeling I had with the module bouncing between strides).

I switched that one to cycling only duties, and got myself an arm mounted one for running (HW807 for what it’s worth, though other brands and models are available); haven’t looked back on that choice to be honest.

I have been having the same issue - running is not showing a reliable hr reading anymore in Zwift so I go by my Garmin watch readings instead. It all seems to work fine on the bike so makes me wonder if it is a Zwift issue as well
