Zwift Ride vs. Kids

I know that the minimum recommended rider height for Zwift Ride is 152 cm as per the FAQ but I was wondering if any of you have smaller kids who have tried to use Zwift Ride, and if that actually worked for them?

My daughter is 8 and about 130 cm now. She tried a Decathlon trainer with a small road bike in the store, with the seat in the lowest position, and absolutely loved it. Even if the frame seemed still a bit large to her. She did 15 minutes quickly and wanted to ride more . I am trying to figure out what options I have as I do not have a space for a second setup at home. Zwift Ride frame could be the way to go as I already have Kickr Core.

Anyone can share your experience? I bet that I am not the only one with small kids wanting to ride same as us :joy:.

I think the weirdo cranks will be your biggest issue. There’s no way someone 130cm should be on 172.5mm cranks.

170mm in the case of the Ride, but still, not a good fit at all. It would make much more sense for the adults to ride short cranks than for a child to ride long cranks.

The Caveworks Rivet frame advertises minimum height of 147cm and would permit the use of standard bicycle cranks available in a variety of lengths since it’s designed for industry standard parts.

Crank arm shorteners exist but I haven’t heard whether this type of product will fit the Zwift Ride crank arms. The shorteners would also reduce the minimum distance between the pedals and saddle, though they would not help with the stand-over height of the frame, or the minimum reach. Example:

Hi All,

Thanks for bringing this query to our attention @Martin_Skapa! Jose here from Zwift.

We are thrilled to hear how much your daughter enjoys riding!

I understand the importance of adjusting the crank length on your Zwift Ride. However, the crank on the Zwift Ride Smart Frame cannot be adjusted or replaced, as stated in the Zwift Ride FAQ.
