I tried replacing the stock saddle w one of my own. The only way to remove the stock saddle was to remove the bolt completely out. The pieces popped off and fell on the floor. I’m trying to put it back how I think it should go back but now the saddle won’t fit within the rails. Are there any diagrams of how to assemble the saddle rails?
Hello @Chris_P5, welcome to the Zwift forums and congrats on the new Ride. I’m sorry to see you’re running into a bit of an issue with the saddle change.
I recommend against riding on this setup before getting your saddle clamps put back together, for both you comfort and safety. Please feel free to reach out to us in Support if you need additional help.
Hi Rowdy,
The standard instructions that you refer to dont help. In fact they are misleading. They make it sound really easy to change the saddle, its not easy. I suspected I was going to have some trouble when I removed the stock saddle. i had to force it off. I cant even get the stock saddle back on now never mind the saddle i actually want on the bike. Rail dimensions on both saddles are the same. 7mm rails and same distance between rails. Any tips you can give us would be appreciated. Until then, no riding unfortunately.
Unfortunately, it’s been radio silence from Zwift on this issue since I emailed them with the method I used to resolve the issue.
I am posting it here in case this is of use to any of my fellow Zwifters that use a Zwift stationary bike.
I am not sure whether my bike had a technical issue or whether all Zwift bikes will be the same and this may not be the best solution but it worked for me so here goes.
Method:
The instructions online are misleading
The existing, still new, saddle was very difficult to take off. I had to remove the bolt and outside brackets and the saddle was still jammed on the inner rail guides. When I did force it off, the inner rail guides obviously fell off as well.
To get the new saddle on was a two-person job and involved some rough handling. Ultimately what we did was:
insert both inner rail guides.
thread the bolt through.
attach the left side out guide
tighten the bolt fully
then used brute force to get the right hand saddle rail for the new saddle over groove on the right hand inner rail guide
carefully remove the bolt and make sure that nothing came apart
add on the right hand exterior rail guide
thread the bolt back through again and tighten the entire mechanism again.
It’s working fine now but it was not a job for beginners. I’ve changed many a saddle and this was tricky. This came as a surprise because the new saddle has the same dimension rails as the Zwift saddle and the same distance between the two rails.
