I just got a zwift ride but find the stock saddle very uncomforatble. I have another saddle i’d like to use but it has 7x9 saddle rails. Is there an adapter or different clamp I can get to utilize this other saddle? thanks
Is that a carbon saddle? Normal saddles should fit the standard 7mm rails on the Ride.
Yes, it’s a carbon saddle.
Sadly it’s a proprietary seatpost with no clamp options. The Ride is packed with proprietary bits so you have to live with it or hack it. Imagine if it came with a 27.2mm round seat post…
Is it a side-clamping clamp, or does it clamp from the top and bottom? If it’s top-bottom, it will work with oval rails just fine.
Pics say
Ah, yep. Side-clamper. Out of luck.
I’m new to bike hardware. Are there not universal sizes to these side clamps? I see there are clamp adapters for oval rails and wondering why these couldn’t just be swapped out from the stock zwift ride ones.
That I don’t know–haven’t had a chance to look at the parts, see if they are compatible. The whole clamp would have to be replaced–the central part and the moveable sides.
Hi @L_onestar welcome to Zwift forums and Zwift in general.
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. We don’t offer 7x9mm adapters for carbon-railed saddles on the Zwift Ride smart frame, and advise strongly against “hacking” together your own adapters from a rider safety viewpoint.
Zwift Ride exists to offer the ride feel and feature set of expensive smart bikes, but at a fraction of their cost. Compatibility with the highest-end carbon-railed saddles was therefore not part of its must-have deliverables considerations, especially as the weight savings of a carbon saddle is of no benefit on an indoor trainer bike.
Do you have other spare saddles sitting around that use round metal rails? Most saddle manufacturers offer their premium models in a carbon-railed version and stainless steel / titanium / hollow Cr-Mo steel versions as well.
I can take off my round-rails saddle from my current bike and plan to use this one, its just that I got the carbon saddle recenlty but need to get adapters to use it on my road bike too.
