I’m thinking about exchanging the Kickr Core 2 with a Kickr V6 for my Zwift Ride.I can only find the Cassette Option on their Website. That means, I’d have to buy a Zwift Cog seperatley?
Use the cassette, you don’t need a Zwift Cog.
But does the Zwift Ride chain work with the pre-installed 11-speed cassette? It didn’t work with my old Zwift Hub and its 11-speed cassette. It slipped completely. And the chain is relatively new.
@Michael_Wollenschein hello!
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. TLDR; if you’re using a Zwift Ride, you’ll want a Zwift Cog on whatever trainer you use with it. See details below.
Depending which country you’re in, and the place where you’re shopping for a Kickr V6, it may be offered minus a cassette or Zwift Cog. If you’re in the US / UK / EU, you can buy the Zwift Cog + Click upgrade kit from the Zwift Shop. We do not sell just the Zwift Cog by itself. This upgrade kit also includes a Wahoo freehub body pre-installed on the ZCog to simplify installation to your trainer, meaning you won’t need a chain whip or HG cassette lockring tool.
This advice is true if you’re using an outdoor bike on the trainer. The outdoor bike has a rear derailleur to shift the chain from one cog to its neighbor cog, and also to make small adjustments to center the chain on a single cog. The Zwift Ride smart trainer lacks a derailleur, and can not make these chainline adjustments.
This is where the Zwift Cog v2 comes in. It has an indexing ring that makes fine chainline adjustments by moving the cog itself side to side. Pro tip: leave the adjustment ring set to #1 position if you’re using it with the Zwift Ride. Installation instructions are here.
