Zwift Ready compatibility for Tacx Neo 2T Neo 2 Neo 2 SE and Neo 3M [June 2025]

I’m pretty sure that the SRAM flattop chains have exactly the same pitch as other chains. But the rollers are bigger, as you say, and that does need consideration. They’re also thinner internally.

I works but not with an ANT+ dongle. Be sure to remove that from your PC before hand. The NEO 2T did not display the ability to implement shifting until the PC was rebooted without the ANT+ dongle installed.

I’ve tested a few things and tried to run zwift in the same place with ecxactly the same setup on my laptop and that worked, so it looks like the pc is the problem
Anyone ideas what the problem is? BLE card in the pc? How to test this? Buy external dongle?
If I check the BLE/WIFI card it says it works correct

Ride on!

That is unfortunately a pretty common problem. I don’t know why but there are quite a few PCs out there with Bluetooth that stinks when you try to use it with Zwift. You can try things like positioning the PC so there is line of sight between the Bluetooth antenna and the trainer, or mounting the Bluetooth antenna on an extension cable, but it’s usually easier to disable it and put a dongle on a 2m extension cable, plus it gives you a secondary device to test with, and they are quite cheap. There are tips about purchasing dongles in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5ANG75W24Y

Thanks, I’ll look into that
I just find it weird that it out of the blue stopt working, it has worked for the last 6 or 7 months and that my laptop with, I presume, a build-in bleutooth works fine compared to a separate bleutooth/WIFI card

No need to unplug your ANT+ USB dongle. Just make sure “Resistance” on the NEO 2T is using Bluetooth. Power and Cadence can still use ANT+.

Can just a friend here is the USA purchase it for you and ship it to Australia :australia:? Right now is on sale for $59. I ordered mine 2 days ago and it will be delivered on Monday.

Should I just just post a comment on a Zwift ride “Find a friend” /s
Great for you that you’ve managed a way to get the item and thanks for telling me how successful you have been! more /s

Seriously, yes I would have the item posted for me from the USA if I knew someone in the USA, they didn’t mind doing the reposting for me, and I trust them to actually do it.
I’ve tried using a few of the web based shipping companies like VPost (never again) and MyUS (happy with this company) but none will accept the order from Zwift and I eventually lose a bit of money (exchange rate loss) and time.

Hey i did the update on my Neo 2T and it works amazing. I also noticed for the road surface feeling only wooden planks and dirt/gravel are simulated in zwift . Cobble stones are not working anymore. Is this a zwift related bug or a Garmin/Neo firmware bug ? Fyi, i had also need to turn on the slider in the tacx app for race mode. So standard it was set to off. Regards

Good to know but I do not know how to direct individual communication links to either ANT+ or BT.

When you click on one of the tiles on the pairing screen, it will offer you different options for devices that support them. There are icons that indicate ANT+, ANT-FEC, BLE, WiFi/Ethernet, etc. when you get into that part of the interface. However you may need to go through that process every time you start the app. ANT+ pairs faster than BLE by design so it often wins the pairing race. The easiest way to avoid that annoyance is get rid of the ANT+ dongle, but it’s your choice.

Hi Zwift Community,

I’m having trouble with my Tacx trainer staying connected to Zwift over Bluetooth on my computer after a recent firmware update, and I’d appreciate any advice. Interestingly, the trainer connects reliably to Zwift on my iPad with no dropouts, and virtual shifting works perfectly there.

Setup:

  • Trainer: Tacx NEO 2T
  • Firmware: Updated to the latest version via Tacx Utility app (post-June 2025 update for virtual shifting) 2.6.0
  • Zwift Device: Windows 11 PC
  • Other Devices: Zwift Click/Play (for virtual shifting), paired via Bluetooth
  • Zwift App: 1.91.0, build 147909
  • Connection: Bluetooth for trainer (Controllable and Cadence), power meter (Power Source), and controller (Controls)

Issue: Since updating my Tacx trainer’s firmware to enable virtual shifting, it won’t stay connected to Zwift on my computer via Bluetooth. It either fails to pair, drops during a ride, or doesn’t appear in the pairing menu. However, it connects perfectly to my iPad running Zwift, with stable Bluetooth and functional virtual shifting. The trainer also connects fine to the Tacx Utility app, so the hardware seems okay. Also, my power meter, heart rate monitor and Zwift play connect to my Windows 11 PC without issue.

What I’ve Tried:

  • Power-cycled the trainer (unplugged for 30 seconds, pedaled to wake).
  • Disconnected the trainer from all other apps/devices (e.g., Tacx Utility, Garmin Connect).
  • Verified virtual shifting is enabled in Zwift’s Settings and works on iPad.
  • Ensured Zwift app is updated to the latest version.

Question: Is this a known issue with the Neo 2T after the firmware update? Any ideas what I can do to fix this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sounds like what @Jasper_Wouters reported. Some discussion about it over here:

This sounds similar but my issue is over bluetooth. Also, my Play and heart rate monitor still work, connect fine and don’t drop.

I suspect a BT dongle on an extension cable may help you as well but I don’t have a Neo so that is a guess

I’ve seen a couple of comments from peeps reporting ‘missing’ cobble stones from the road feel…:grimacing: @shooj are you aware of this? Should this be raised with garmin..?

Thanks.

My issues is also over BLE, I contacted garmin and I’m waiting for a reply
I’m looking for BLE dongle to try
I still honestly think it is a garmin problem because it just to much of a coincidence but not on every device, my Windows 11 pc doesn’t work but my Windows 11 laptop does work

Do you have 10Hz race mode enabled? If so, you just increased the amount of BLE traffic by a lot, so if BLE performance was marginal before and just worked, that might push you into failure. Having a dongle and USB extension cable to try would be a good troubleshooting step.

I’ve tried with and without the 10Hz and it makes no difference, i’ve ordered a dongle
I’ll reply in my post if it worked or not
