Zwift Newbie - Need guidance

Hi Everyone.

I am 45, and I always loved to watch cycling. Always wanted to start, however the roads where I live a bit dangerous, and wife feels more confy if i am cycling at home.
This being said, i would love to hear your honest feedback, as you know it is not a cheap investment the zwift frame plus the Kick.
Also it will be for my own health benefit, as Santa Klaus offered me a few kilos/pounds, and I need to get rid of those aswell.

Thank you in advance.
Carlos

What do you want us to tell you? Given that you’re posting on the Zwift Forums, I suspect you’re not going to find many people here telling you it’s a massive waste of time.

And no one can really tell you whether it’s good value for money or not, because that’s individual to you.

I love it, and combined with doing some lifting it’s got me in better shape than I’ve been in in many years. :+1:

I do appreciate your honest feedback. Thank you for having the time to read and reply to me.

Hi @carlos_murta,

Welcome to the forums! I’m Haziel from the Zwift Support team, and I really appreciate you sharing your concerns about your setup.

It’s so important to have a configuration that supports your health and wellness, and I understand that finding the right equipment can be a challenge, especially when balancing your needs with your budget. Our website has a variety of options available, such as the Wahoo KICKR SNAP, which might suit your needs.

If you’re exploring a complete setup that includes virtual shifting, I personally recommend the Zwift Ride. However, if you’re thinking about just the trainer please consider the Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One or the Wahoo KICKR CORE with Cassette. Both of these come with a one-year Zwift Membership, which can offer you great value.

For more information and options, please take a look at this article on Compatible Trainers. To maximize your experience with Zwift, I also suggest checking out this article on Zwift Ready Compatibility, which can help you explore trainer that have access to virtual shifting.

I truly hope this information helps you feel more confident in your decision-making process.

Hi,
If you’re considering the Zwift Ride, I would encourage you to look at the reviews that others have posted on this site. There have been some issues with it from the controllers failing repeatedly to issues with damaged equipment arriving. There are plenty of people who are happy with the Zwift Ride, but it always pays to be an educated consumer.

It should also be noted that the Zwift Ride locks you into virtual shifting (this has plus and minuses) and into the Zwift universe for anything besides ERG change training (it cannot be used on other platforms for non-ERG riding).

Personally, I think if you’re someone who is not sure about indoor cycling training and you just want to get your toes wet, I would recommend that you purchase a used 11-speed road bike in your area as well as a Kickr trainer such as the Snap (wheel on) or Core (direct drive) and get started with as little investment as possible. The benefit of buying a used bike is that you can ride it on those roads (at the less dangerous times of day) and it’s a much cheaper entry point.

Happy Zwifting!

Hi

Thank you a lot for your detailed explanation.Did cycle in the past, and nowadays the roads are a bit dangerous. this being said, decided to spoil myself with the Zwift kit that includes the Kickr. Will give you honest feedback once i do the first training.

I hope you enjoy it. If you are a Facebook user, I can recommend the Zwift Beginners group as a supportive place to ask questions about using the game or your equipment, or training, or how to maximize your enjoyment of riding indoors.
