Zwift Gift Card Can't be used for subscription?

I was gifted a $50 gift card with the intention to use it for a subscription. Unfortunately, the fine print says I can NOT use it for a subscription. As a small business owner, I am trying to understand why this is important to Zwift? As someone who uses Zwift, it makes me not want to use Zwift. Anyone have insights into why they make this into a thing, when they could probably make more profits on gifted subscriptions that lots of people probably wouldn’t even use.

Zwift should be focusing on customer satisfaction and improving their company, not making things harder for people to enjoy their platform.

Several years ago, you could use a gift card for a subscription, that’s how I did it rather than doing monthly payments. This was before they had yearly subscriptions.
I’m not 100% sure when it changed to not allow gift cards for subscriptions, but it was before COVID.

I was given a Zwift gift card in recent years and the rushed purchase didn’t see the clear statement about they could not be used for subscription.

I ended up buying a set of Zwift Play controllers, when they were on sale for £50 plus p&p, as very little else in the shop interested me… Especially at standard prices!

Maybe buy Zwift Cog and Click upgrade kit? £50 here in UK, I presume it’s similar in $.

For me it’s just another Zwift own goal, a bit pointless selling them in what looks like an underhand way if people think they can be used for subscriptions.

buyer beware!

It doesn’t make sense, and surprised that Zwift still has this issue so many years later. If they can put a code for a free trial period in a trainer box as a promotion, you’d think they could stick a similar code on a card and sell them.

It’s mad when you consider that I got 3 months free Zwift just for being an adidas club member. Collecting points every time you buy some of their clothing/sportswear, and if you link your account to Zwift you get points for every km you ride. Didn’t even know that until I was scrolling through the adidas app one day.
