On the bug side, IIRC the portals are supposed to be every 10% of the climb. Today on the Côte de Pike the second to last portal was after I’d done 92% of the climb.
Also, after exiting the portal, the route progress bar doesn’t really make sense.
I’ve entered the portal, climbed to the top, come all the way back down and exited the portal again. Why doesn’t it count that as completing the route? Am I supposed to ride to an arbitrary point? A sprint banner?
I did Trebiac last night and Tourmalet, Puy de Dome and Col d’Aspin today. My excuse is that today I had a 3 part Zoom meeting going on all day. Obviously I kept my video off on Zoom! Anyway, I thought the climb portal was great and very pretty… Hope to do the other 4 tomorrow. Also hope that Zwift will keep many of these routes available simultaneously once the 2 months are up. One a day is probably not enough…

I think the arches might divide the distance into 10 rather than the climb?

Distance including the lead-in, you mean? That doesn’t seem sensible to me; I expect the climb itself, from the entrance portal to the finishing arch, to be the thing divided into sections.
I thought it might be distance on the climb. It seemed to be that for one of the climbs but I wasn’t paying attention for them all (I was riding without the HUD mostly). I’d been expecting it to be altitude gain… but I suppose it makes sense to have it as distance, as the avg gradient is there too.
I though it was a great addition to the game. Something different! I rode Col des Aravis and WOW, those 20% grades are STEEP!!! Great work, Zwift! For all those not liking this feature, do what I did: imagine the time of day/ weather
Red and Orange: just before sundown
Blue: Blue skys over a wavy ocean and
Purple (on downhill): Going though a snow storm! (It looks this way because of the white streaks look like cold wind)
We are currently investigating the reports of Apple TV users being unable to view the Climb Portal stages 1-8 in Zwift on the Climb Portal: First Ascent Challenge. While there is no workaround at this time, we are looking to resolve this as quickly as possible and will provide updates as they are available.
In the interim, you can still access the daily Climb Portal route from the “Just Ride” row on the home screen or from the Watopia or France route list in the “Explore Routes” section. Here is the climb rotation schedule that will be happening throughout the month of July and can be accessed by both the Watopia and France Climb Portals:
I am on Apple TV, up to date with Zwift version… and the Portal Climb button is not showing all possible climbs as it does in my iPhone or Mac. I can only choose Cote de Pike in the Just Ride section at the bottom of the start screen… is it possible to fix?
I’m glad to see you liked it Kirk! You’ve been bouncing around the forums like an excited puppy recently waiting for this feature! It would have made me sad to see you report back that you were disappointed!
Is the time of the scheduled change (every 4-5 days) posted anywhere? I couldn’t find it after searching around. For a platform that has users seemingly in every time zone, it would be helpful to give that information, in UTC ideally, alongside the day of the week. Thanks in advance.
You know what game this reminds me of, there’s this one game I played around 2016-17
where you use your finger to control a ball and avoid obstacles. The colors and graphics kind of remind me of this game (the game is called Rolling Sky)! Simple, yet fun and challenging!
Also I liked the nice touch with the sound in the background when the gradient and color changed! RollingSky on Steam
Looks like it’s more Pike on the menu this evening (ATV user). After watch the tour today though, more than happy to jump on and give it another go. The rocketed up it today!
