Hi Ryan,
Couple questions on the continued development of ZRS:
What are the plans and timelines for ZRS to be able support other types of race formats beyond scratch races? When ZRS was in its Labs test phase and I participated in a women only GC series five months ago, we were limited to only scratch races and I believe we were told that points were not feasible using ZRS. Is there a plan for upgrading this or will points only be able to exist using CE and thus remain out if the Zwift HQ race ecosystem.
Also, can you explain how the results of the remaining CE races (such ZRL and other private series) affect racers’ Zwift Racing Scores? Are results of these races (finishes) excluded or included in the calculation? If there are included, can you expand show that works?
Points racing is definitely on our roadmap. We don’t have exact timing to share right now, but it’s something we’ll be looking at in the coming year as we continue to develop ZRS. Expanding beyond scratch races is important, and we know points racing would add a lot of value to the Zwift racing experience.
Regarding community events that still use power-based categories, like ZRL and other private series - We do allow the organizers the flexibility to specify whether they would like results to count against ZRS. We are also working with WTRL/ZRL organizers to eventually transition the series to ZRS-based subgroups.
Thanks, really appreciate the response and information. Definitely seems like supporting other race formats would be a prerequisite for ZRL and other private series to adopt ZRS as it currently can’t suit the needs of those doing points races. Hope the roll out of that capability isn’t too far off in the distance.
