What does the speed in zwift depend on?

Stupid question! I need your help. What does the speed in zwift depend on? Watts?
Can a cyclist spin faster with fewer watts and an order of magnitude worse cadence?

I’m confused, I can’t figure it out.

For example, my weight is 64 / height is 173 / watts is 3.2 / cadence is 87

Other cyclist weight 55/ height 155/ watts 2.8 (or 2.7)/ cadence 71

Who will come to the Finish line sooner?!

Have a nice reading

Thank you - I’ve gone to improve my level of knowledge!

Your cadence has zero effect on your in-game speed.

Just as a simplified answer. Your speed in Zwift is based on:

  1. Power (Watts): The more power you produce, the faster you go.
  2. Weight (kg): Lighter riders go faster uphill; heavier riders are faster downhill.
  3. Terrain: Uphill = slower, downhill = faster.
  4. Drafting: Riding behind others reduces your effort, increasing speed.
  5. Bike Choice: Aero bikes are faster on flat roads, lightweight bikes are better for climbing.

All these factors are combined by Zwift’s physics engine to calculate your virtual speed.

Height (cm) as important as number 2 and everyone forgets this.
