Did you get a definitive answer in the right forum? The same should be true even for the pros, as soon as you can see the event listed in “events” (e.g. this coming weekend’s pro races don’t seem to be visible in events just yet).
Can you earn the kit by completing a stage discovery ride or do you have to complete the weekend events?
No, only the weekend rides titled L’Etape du Tour Stage 1 (2, 3, 4, ect.)
On it!! As soon as it’s up, I’ll be looking!! Thanks.
P.S Do you know if they’ll be another discovery ride next week for stages 3 and 4?
I competed Stage 1 and was congratulated however I cannot see where or how I get the kit?
You actually need to go into Zwift and hit SKIP.Then START a ride. Hit MENU and on the right hand side of the screen you will see a little “garage”. Open the garage and your kit will be in amongst the jerseys. Select it and your avatar should be wearing it.
CLOSE the garage when done , END your rIde and make sure you either SAVE it if you have ridden or TRASH CAN it if not.
There was issues with the L’Etape kit which may impact this. The kit they had was the wrong one (L’Etape 2019} it should have been L’Etape 2020. I already had the 2019 one but others were reporting they hadn’t received it. HQ said the proper kit would be distributed to all finishers. It may take a while to show up.
If you have already completed one of this year’s L’Etape stages, you should (I believe) have the 2019 kit in your garage—I do, at any rate. From Shuji’s memo about the mixup, it would seem that the “fix” will involve putting the new 2020 kit in your garage some time this (next?) week.
Yes, there will be. And for Stages 5 and 6 the following week.
@Diana_Steel8021 lol naturally the weekend pro events are now visible, but they aren’t yet (as of this moment) populated with participants
Edit - the Saturday 7/11 and Sunday 7/12 pro stages are populated with racers now.
Apologies for the digression from the original post topic. Couldn’t find an appropriate place to highlight there is a mismatch between the Virtual Tour rides on the Companion App and the Zwift website: It’s easier to sign-up via the Companion App however the App only has one staged event per weekend whereas the website advertises there are two stages per weekend.
@Brett_Waller welcome to Zwift forums.
The Tour de France pros race on two different courses per weekend, but the L’Etape community races are held on one course per weekend (the hillier / more difficult of the two that the pros use).
For this coming weekend, the pros race R.G.V. in Stage 3 and Casse-Pattes in Stage 4.
For the L’Etape fondos, Casse-Pattes is offered on Saturday and Sunday
Was that what you were asking about?
Perfect explanation, thank you. So if you’re non-pro you only get to ride Stage 2, 4, and 6 (and acquire the exclusive badges) unless I ride with the pros to get the other badges?
Well, sort of. The pro events are invite-only, so you can not barge in on the pro races that are broadcast worldwide on TV.
Oh. I missed that in the small print. Thanks for explaining.
@Brett_Waller Unless I’m misunderstanding the conversation, remember that the other stage (1 or 3 or 5) could be ridden any day of the week following the weekend it was ridden by the pros, during the so-called Discovery Rides (see events in the companion app). I.e. you could still ride stage 1 today; after this weekend, you could ride stage 3; after next weekend, stage 5.
You’re correct re my question, and your answer is correct. It’s just that during the week is practically impossible for me to connect up with my core group of friends to ride together.
*Here’s an update for those who received the 2019 L’Etape kits in error on July 4 & 5.
-
1. A game patch was released two days ago Mac/PC/ Android , and yesterday for iOS / Apple TV. Please update your game app as a first step.
-
2. We are officially opening the France map to our community in this weekend’s L’Etape events. It is a beautiful world that we hope you’ll enjoy.
-
Doing any upcoming L’Etape event will unlock the 2020 jersey.
-
You will also get to keep the 2019 kit if you earned it last weekend.
-
Those who completed the events last weekend will be awarded the new jersey no later than next week. There is nothing you need to do other than update your game app.
-
*3. If you experienced a game crash during a L’Etape event, please follow us over to this other thread.
Hello to the team.
As a little reward for driving the TDF, how about getting an old Peugeot steel frame?
@Da_ShortyZZRC
That’s really nice of you! We’ve worked really hard for several months, and I’m sure that the vintage steel fans working here would love a fine vintage Peugeot. You’re so thoughtful!
