Video Always Stuttering

Problem:
The Zwift program runs very poorly on my video editing / gaming workstation (See Specs below)
The video stutters the moment the program is launched.
Stuttering can even be seen in the menus.
Stuttering does not get better or worse with changing video resolution in game,
Review of logs indicates GPU & CPU utilization never go above about 35%

Absolutely no reason you should be having issues on that rig, but as a starting point stick a log file into zwiftalizer.com and post the results along with details of the context (ie was it a solo ride, on which world etc).

Couple of points to note:

  1. With your specs you should use the 4K setting in the game. Doesn’t matter what display you’re using.
  2. Full screen mode always runs better.
  3. GPU utilisation is low because of the power you have on tap with a 2080S, but CPU utilisation numbers don’t mean anything in relation to Zwift and can be ignored.
  4. Ensure you’re not in any power saving modes in Windows, and that Game Mode is enabled (it is by default). Or if you’re using an N version of Windows, ensure you’re in High Performance mode. Otherwise core parking causes stuttering like mad in Zwift.

I tried removing all ANT+ and Blue Tooth dongles and there was no improvement.
While I am trying your other suggestions, have a look at a quick screen capture I created of the issue (out2.mp4).
You will notice the stuttering begins with the Zwift bicycle on the login screen and even the balloons while Watopia ia loading.

This screen capture corresponds to the log files I sent previously.

Still not working, try Imgur for the pics or Streamable for video and post the URL (might need to put some gaps in to get past the filter).

Anyway it doesn’t sound right. Ordinarily I’d suggest a clean install of Windows 10 but if this is a multi-purpose machine then that’s possibly out of the question. :confused:

Try installing HWiNFO to monitor temps during Zwift, and XTU to monitor the CPU, in case stuff is overheating or throttling in some other way. Also if you’ve messed about with your Nvidia Control Panel, reset it to default to rule out a wonky setting.

Seen it now, cheers. First of all that’s not normal at all. It’s much more than stutter, the whole game is locking up every couple of seconds. Question is why. Does it do the same if you load the game and then disconnect from the internet?

I know right??? After launching Zwift and logging in, I disconnected the network cable and as expected all the other riders disappeared, but the in game objects like the Zwift Blimp and foliage still froze up every couple seconds.
The really strange thing is I game on this rig quite often and it has no problem with demanding games like Red Dead Redemption 2 & Crysis remastered at high settings.

Well it is well past Zwifting time and this debugging is cutting into bier drinking time here in Germany.
Fortunately Zwift runs adequately on my “old” Acer Nitro laptop @1080 so I can “slum” it on that until I figure this out.

Yeah Zwift often displays issues that other games don’t, it’s pretty odd. All I’d say is that I am extremely confident that with a clean install of Windows and only Zwift, and everything at default including BIOS, you wouldn’t have any issues. Given your other games are performing fine I suspect it’s a software setting or configuration somewhere rather than anything more serious to be worried about (like GPU failure!).
